It’s tit-for-tat; that requirement will disappear if UK Gov drops it’s requirement.

Like I say, I’m a small business owner and I like many others here are focusing on the local community, not international tourism.

Now that a drug has been found In

Uk ( it’s not a cure) but helps people and stops many dying from the virus and helps many if they go on a ventilator ...everyone is talking about it in uk the drug has been around for a while it’s a steroid type drug

Tit for tat, how so? Spain has had a 14 day quarantine in place for some time, the UK imposes one and everyone spits the dummy out.  Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Read it another way Andymac, Spain has an anti Covid-19 policy in place for months and its leaders lead by example and the UK started its policy later with its leaders leading by . . .

Now now Mathew, I thought we had gone beyond that.  I hope Spain has stopped all flights from China given recent events in Beijing.

Forgive my ignorance, but I've never seen hordes of Chinese populating the beaches of Andalucia.

This is a steroid drug that makes no difference to those without Coronavirus but ameliorates its impact in a fifth of cases using oxygen therapy in hospitals and in a third of cases using ventilators. It’s British made and long established and quite cheap. All good news - but of no use in prevention or within the population at large - only a vaccine will do that. And the vast majority of Covid deaths in hospital and at home continue to happen despite all the efforts made.

Then I shall be surprised if any come at all this year, given that they make up 25% of the overseas visitors in terms of spend the local hospitality sector will take a hit this year.  I’m further surprised that they have not imposed a 14 day quarantine on many other Nations.

Spain imposed a quarantine very late but when it did it was on all nations entering. The U.K. only imposed one a week ago - also very late - and needs to maintain it as it is still registering Covid deaths in the hundreds daily and is exporting it, New Zealand is one example. Now the UK govt today said it needs the quarantine “to stop high infection countries bringing it into Britain.” Hollow laugh ...

So it is understandable that a currently low infection country like Spain is maintaining the quarantine on U.K. visitors. However the Spanish quarantine is for those flying in, the land borders after 21 June will not be policed. And thermal temperature gizmos at airports have been shown to be pretty ineffective- many with Covid are asymptomatic and therefore not triggering them. So the whole quarantine issue is a bit of a sham, it only works well Chinese style where everyone coming in has to do 14 days in a designated hotel (and pay for it) and is tested and supervised there by police. Draconian but necessary.

I suspect that Britain being Britain it will suspend using quarantine by 1st July, under pressure from airlines, the tourism industry and other commercial interests. Spain is little different, in just a few days it will be gone.

A second wave in Spain is anticipated in the autumn, according to medical experts.
