Car broken into in Águilas
Just a word of caution for you all as my car was broken in to in Águilas last night (Saturday) while parked in a square roughly opposite the train station. (Calle Hilario García Lázaro) When we arrived about 6pm we put a few bits in the boot, nothing off high value ironically so nothing was on display in the car. I assume we were watched doing so as between when we left the car and 11pm the back quaterlight was smashed. They never opened the doors so the alarm did not go off and took a few small bits they could reach. Luckily not my bread or red wine!
Looking back on my front and rear dashcams I can't see anyone obvious when we parked so they may have been on one of the balconies overlooking the road or maybe it was just random, but given the other cars around and that you can't see in the boot I think it is likely we were watched. Anyway, we called the Policia Local and they arrived within 5 minutes and took some photos, but there is little else they can really do. A local man came over and said that one week ago a car had a window broken just a few spaces away.
Not to sure if we are better off going through the insurance company or if it would effect our premium. We are fully comp with Directa Linea so will call them Monday to ask. I can live with them taking a couple of things, but the frustrating thing is the clean up, 2 hours so far today and then sorting out the new window, which when fitted will probably mean another car hoover out!
Anyway, lesson learnt. We won't be putting anything in the boot when we park the car in future even if we should not have to worry about these sorts of things, but these sorts of people are about sadly so be aware.
