We are a retired couple with dogs planning to spend 6 months in the Albox area prior to perhaps relocating from Scotland..

Which area would we be best suited, to hopefully encourage us to take this giant step..or...should we at our time in life... late 60s be best settling for 6months between home and abroad..especially for health reasons in the future....

Would we have a much better quality of life in Spain, the weather certainly attracts us, or does the grass always appear greener on the other side?

Really toying with this decision and I know only we can decide, but any positive or otherwise advice would be gratefully received..

Regards,

Evelyn Brydon

Similar age bracket.  Had house with water views , warmer than Spain , beach 2 minutes and all necessities of life. In theory all set for late retirement , almost never rains , town full of snowbirds in winter and tons to do . Because dollar strong local currency good exchange rate so stuff fairly cheap. This was our life in Mexico at 27 degrees latitude . However over past few years we visited Europe and enjoyed it more and more. This year when we got back from Denmark we decided that I , as eldest had at least one more adventure left in me. So sold up and moved 6000 + miles to South east Spain. Brit/American and Dutch/American.

What suits one may not suit another , for us no regrets , we did decide to rent not buy in order to keep flexibility for first few years - in case the urge to head somewhere else pops up !

Good luck, my advice would be rent for a year see how you like it.
