Thanks Phil,
Feel much better having read your reply..
Having three I imagined may create problems with hotel accomodation..
Do you take a dog bed into the bedroom? or do they provide dog beds..

We have journeyed through France and Spain for many years with Dogs (2) France is very easy as nearly all hotels and restaurants allow dogs but there can be a limit to the amount and size of dogs you can have.
On one occasion we had to book 2 rooms in a Spanish hotel as we were only allowed 1 dog per booking. I have also seen a max of 2 dogs on several hotel web sites and a max weight on others.
Spain is always more difficult as less hotels allow dogs and most restaurants do not let them inside- you just need to put it in your search criteria.
Also most hotels charge an additional fee per dog (this can vary massively)
The easiest way to cross is using Eurotunnel as the dogs stay in the car with you. We drive from Calais, stop at Orleans France over night (6hr), then near Beziers France (6hr) we then sometimes drive continuosly to Villaricos (8/9 hrs) or stop half way at Tarragona or Peniscola - all good stops.
The motorways are very easy to use and there are lots of places to stop for toilet breaks
I am sure you’ll all have lovely time!

We take a duvet which goes on the back seat and then up to the hotel room. We have dog harnesses with seat belt attachments for the car
Ibis are good in France but even cheaper are Comfort hotels! We look for bed and breakfast in Spain
