This question may have been answered previously but I'll ask again, as I am a bit confused.

If I moved to Spain after 2020 on an Irish passport and as a UK Pensioner with 2 pensions - one a state pension, the other an occupational pension - a little mixed up maybe, am I entitled to free healthcare if I obtained Spanish residency.  Also, I seem to find different answers to this one - how much money do I need to have being paid into my bank account each month.    Highly unlikely that I would be moving before end of 2020.

Regards Kathleen

Yes, I’m pretty sure when we met up at Gran Plaza in 2019 we did discuss this.

1.As you have an Irish passport you will not have the hassle in getting residency here after January that U.K. citizens will have. But if you plan to stay more than 90 days you will need to obtain residency. Don’t forget that if you get residency you will need to ensure you are not outside Spain for more than six months at a time maximum. Or you will lose residency rights.

2. Dario can probably tell you how much as an Irish EU citizen you need to be receiving for monthly income - around €600-650 each month I think.

3. As you will be getting a U.K. state pension you can get a S1 - but only if you arrive by 31 December! The S1 will entitle you to free state health care in Spain. If you delay ‘till 2021 you will not get this.

Hope this helps

Chris

Thank you for your reply.  The deciding factor for me would be the health care.  I have had a serious heart condition from age 22 and will always require medication and monitoring  as well as necessary surgery in several years time, so it may be best for me to do what I have been doing - renting a property long-term and travelling to my property several times per year.  At present I can't travel due to the various restrictions so I will have to see how things pan out, but I'll not hold my breath waiting.

Purchasing private health care for me would probably be quite expensive - if I was accepted for it because of having an existing medical condition.

Thanks again

Regards Kathleen

If the financial criteria for Irish passport holders is €600-€650 per person, is there a different amount when applying for Residencia as a couple please?

The figures below are what the Spanish government state is the accepted amount and taken from the minimum income in Spain, the non contributory pension. The civil servants in the various offices for soliciting residence are allowed to use their discretion so figures will vary.

Valid for Residency Applications citizens of the EU, EEA and Switzerland (until 31 December inc U.K. citizens)

Annually 2020:

Individual. 5.538,40 euros.

With families...

2 members    9.415,28 euros.

3 members. 13.292,16 euros.

4 members. 17,169,04 euros.

These annual requirements quadruple after the Transition period ends on 31 December - for any UK citizens arriving here after that date.

I have another question.  Do you know if income from a rental property counts towards proof of income when applying for Residencia?

Thanks again.

Tracey.

No I’m afraid I can’t answer that! When we left the U.K. we rented out our house in Manchester but we did not start receiving payments until a month after we got residency here.

I imagine you would have to show that this was a regular and reliable source of your income so maybe a statement from a lettings agent of the payments received - AND over a 12 month period or so? but that is just a guess.

I am no expert but my mum just went through this recently using the services of a local woman to help with the process.  I'm fairly certain that with regards "proof of income" as is being stated on here, if you are in receipt of a state pension then I think that is all you actually have to prove - my mum just used her latest letter confirming what her state pension was.  Then again, that is possibly because the max state pension is more than the €5538 that chrisso50 has stated.
