Just caught sight of an update on the N332 page; for information of all living here or intending to visit, this published today (Please note this is not opinion, posted in support of, or trying to get people riled up at it - it is simply offered for information in case you weren´t aware of it):

The Government has extended the mandatory use of the mask outdoors

The rule, which will now be processed as a bill by the urgent procedure agreed on Tuesday, establishes the mandatory use of masks for people ages six and above in any indoor or outdoor public space, or those open to the public, as well as in public transport.

The text also establishes the exceptions to this obligation, such as during the exercise of individual sports or outdoor activities, provided that a minimum distance of 1.5 meters is maintained between other people who do not cohabitate. Similarly, people who exhibit certain illnesses or respiratory difficulties that may be exacerbated by the use of a mask are not obliged to wear one.

Dario does this mean that lying on a sun lounger by a hotel pool or on the beach a mask needs to be worn?

My understanding is that if you are in an open space, but cannot keep 1,5 metres from non-cohabiting persons, then yes, a mask will be worn.

If it's just you and members of your household, then no

I know a lot of people think it's unnecessary and ridiculous to have to wear masks outside, but I shall continue to do so, at least until the infection rate is greatly reduced.

I personally think that wearing a mask outside keeps me aware that the danger of the pandemic is still very real and that furthermore, I won't be fiddling to find it when when I need to enter a building or when I suddenly find myself being in a crowded place surrounded by unmasked people.

I don't find I have a problem with mask wearing except in the summer if it's very hot.I might then be forced to discard my FFP2 for the lighter medical mask.

Other advantages are that I now wear minimal makeup and if a tooth breaks or a crown comes unstuck, nobody will know other than me and my man.  Since wearing my mask I haven't even caught a cold which makes me feel that I shall never completely abandon my mask wearing habit.

I just wish the spanish and visiting ex pats read the rules.  Some visiting people just wander in and out of a bar mask free. And unfortunately the staff or management do not take them to task. Woe betide you if you make any remark.  Its no wonder Vera and Vera Playa have the largest numbers of positive cases in this area.

AND .... Further to this, THIS just posted (again on N332)

"The minister of health will be rectifying and eradicating the mandatory use of masks outdoors in the next meeting of the council of ministers, to be held this coming Tuesday.

The measure would come into force as of Thursday the 10th of February."

Well done for keeping us informed  . I did ask in the week about still wearing a mask when walking to bar or shop and no one really knew . I totally agree with wearing masks on the bus , taxi and in shops but it still seems odd that you wear a mask to enter a bar and then remove it to sit next to a person you have never met ?

Seems as though countries are going in different directions now. This last week Sweden became the third Nordic country to stop ALL restrictions and accept that the virus is endemic. UK scheduled to do the same by March 31st? Austria is still pounding down the road of mandatory vaccines for all in a futile race against a shape shifting virus.

Politicians should never be in charge of your health, I guess?

Masks indoors are useful but the evidence suggests there is no real risk of picking up Covid from surfaces.  The constant and annoying requirement of disinfecting of hands won't make any difference to Covid.   If anyone is interested, I suggest you look at the following:
