Hi, we have finally received our visas and will be coming to Roquetas next week.

Can anyone tell me what documentation is needed to apply for our TIE?  There is a lot of conflicting info. on the web and very confusing. Also which office we would apply at in Roquetas.  Many thanks.

You won’t apply in Roquetas - you’ll need to go to the Oficina de Extranjería in Almeria, just up the road from you to apply for the TIEs

The first thing you’ll need is a Padrón which you’ll get from Roquetas ayuntamiento and also proof of medical insurance.  Not sure what else - ah yes, the correct modelo showing the fee has been paid (which after completing, you take to a bank, pay them and they imprint a receipt on this form - without this stamped form, you won’t get asked for any other docs, they’ll send you away, so ensure you have the form for fees stamped!!), and of course the application form itself.

Thank you, we'll check in when we arrive next week.

Wow, congratulations! I'm looking to go to Spain on the non-lucrative visa in a year or so - any tips! Good luck with the TIE

Hi Janet, I would definitely recommend getting a good solicitor with experience of visa applications. Unfortunately, although he assured us he did, ours didn't, he caused us a lot of anxiety and didn't advise us on anything we had to do on arrival in Spain (and charged a fortune for the privelege) .

Since arriving we've taken advice from this forum and contacted Emma Randle ( http://www.emmarandlesolicitor.com/) for our TIE application. She arranged for our appointment at the immigration centre in Almeria yesterday and came with us, we collect our cards on 29th November, totally stress free.  Wish we had known about her when applying for the visa.

Good luck with your application., it's worth it in the end🤞🌞⛱️

You've had some really good advise from those that have responded of which I can only concur with.

We've just applied for our next 2 years stay after being here 12 months and just been approved. Enjoy your time here and embrace it all. Good luck too you.

You have to get your padron first. That is easy enough from the office at Calle Real 12 in Roquetas. We gave up trying for the TIE ourselves as we had the same problems as you. Our gestor had to look into it and in the end met up with us at the foreign office in Almeria. Probably best to go down that route.

Thank you Sky, we've done the TIE application now with a solicitor.  Pick them up next month 🥳

Thank you so much for this. It is so helpful hearing how things are going for someone completing the process now as opposed to a year or so ago. I am sure much will will change over the next couple of years too.

I'm still at the exploratory stage - looking at costs, feasability etc, but retirement age is creeping ever closer, so becoming more real with every day that passes.

I've got a couple of solicitor recommendations which I will follow up on. I know that if you get one thing wrong, you are sent right back to the beginning, so I think it's worth getting your i,s  dotted and your t's crossed.... I hope you love your life in Spain.

I recently spoke with someone who owns in Palmeras and said that I just wanted to rent, not own a property and he said that he wishes he had done that, so I am feeling more confident about renting v owning.

So glad we could be of some help, we're glad we chose the renting option as the property we almost bought is in a slightly more touristy location, we went to visit this week and almost everything is closed down, even the huge hotels, so lucky escape. We're really starting to enjoy it now, just need to improve on the language. Good Luck🤞🌞
