I have just returned from the UK and flew with Ryanair. from Alicante to Newquay in Cornwall, the outward flight was normal.  Coming back , as we were queuing to board the plane, the Spanish Aircrew, stood on the top steps and told everyone that unless they wore a mask they could not board, as I was the only one wearing a mask I was allowed to board the rest were left standing on the tarmac whilst the ground staff ran around trying to find everyone masks. We were not allowed to take the masks off during the flight. Finally once we all boarded. the air hostess announced that  ' The Spanish Government had imposed a strike and therefore there would be no service or communication on that flight. and that if you had booked pre paid food you would be sent a voucher'.  , we didn't see the cabin crew again until we landed, no information from the pilot. It was a very odd flight.

The other odd thing was that as we were sitting in the terminal a ground  staff man came around to everyone and asked have you had all your Covid injections, and most people said yes and a few said no. and so he gave us a piece of paper that had clearly just been hurriedly printed on a computer that read Covid checked.  Well thats a lie, cos even the few people that said No got this peice of paper to say they had been checked. None of us were asked for our certificate of proof.

Then when we landed at Alicante, there is now a row of people that you have to walk passed and they are picking people at random and checking their Covid certificates. and taking temperatures of everyone. One man was pulled aside, and taken off not sure what happen to him, didn't pass the test I guess.

2 weeks ago I flew back and forth to Edinburgh, non of the above was in place just a normal flight and no covid check at Alicante so something has changed in the last 2 weeks.

Not sure what it is all about, posting this so anyone flying to UK is forarmed.

The masks, I think it could have something to do with the numbers of covid cases increasing in the uk.  My daughter return to the uk on Thursday last, on an easy jet flight and they did not insist on masks, there was a lady behind her coughing all the way home.  On Saturday the test said covid, now she is very poorly.  I did tell her to wear a mask but as most were not wearing them she did not bother, although she had two in her bag.  So please not only think of yourself but others also and wear a mask in the airport and on the plane.

The flight going out to the UK was fine no masks required, there was myself and another lady wearing one it was the flights coming back, It seems that Spain us begin extra careful who and how they let people in. All good as far as I am concerned.

We flew back to the UK the other week. No one was wearing masks on the Ryanair flight.

At East Midlands Airport there must have been a thousand passengers snaking around the relatively small arrivals hall. Again very few wearing masks but heard a lot of coughing

Not surprisingly, three days later we both tested positive for covid.

I have to commend the Spanish authorities for tightening up their covid processes for new passenger arrivals

I totally agree, in will be going over at Christmas and even if I am the only one on the flight wearing a mask it will not bother me.  They are doing temperature checks going through alicante airport, so please be aware.  I just wish they were still checking that every has been injected, I do not want Spain to go along the uprising figures of the uk.

We flew back from Manchester to Alicante on Tuesday at 1720. Whilst we were waiting at the gate it was announced that everyone had to wear masks on the flight so people had to go back to the kiosks to purchase them. It is a ruling that passengers on all Ryanair flights have to wear masks but this wasn't enforced when we flew to the UK on 10th June. Cabin service was normal, no checks were done at Alicante when we got back and everyone passed straight through.

Ryanair sent a message to passengers to say there was strike action by Spanish workers on 24-26, 30th June and 1st and 2nd July so this may have been why no cabin staff were available on your flight.

Wearing a mask protects others not yourself.

If less than 80% are wearing mask then it is totally pointless.

I agree but I always carry two or three so if I have to I will double up.  I think it is every ones responsibility to think of others as well as yourself, but we can only do our best.

I totally agree with this comment, if my daughter had been wearing a mask last Thursday there would of been a good chance she would not have covid now. At the moment she is very very poorly, all for not wearing a mask.
