Hi, we are trying to make a decision on buying a property in Almeria. We have narrowed it down to 2 properties. One near Arboleas, about 40 mins to the coast, it’s a detached villa with its own pool; and the other is a townhouse with a communal pool near the beach in Mojacar Playa.

Very different properties and areas :) We are buying as a holiday property that we will probably rent out in July and August to cover costs.

Grateful for all and any advice as to which you think would be good  and a better buy for a family with 3 kids ranging from 14 to 5.

Thanks a mil

Hi, We lived in Arboleas for our 1st 2 years in Spain, we now live 10 minutes from Mojacar Playa.

Based on the fact that you have kids aged from 5-14 I would say go for Mojacar as there is not much in Arboleas for kids and most of the residents are early retired or older.

We spent a lot of our 2 years in Arboleas (and a lot of diesel) travelling to and from Mojacar and Vera playas as Arboleas is very quiet even in the summer.

We made some lovely friends in Arboleas and enjoyed our time there but with young kids its got to be Mojacar

Hoe this helps

Totally agree with Crancank, for all the reasons stated. Lots more going on for the children and younger folk.

Good luck with your move and new life.

For rental potential Mojacar has to be no 1 Arboleas is too quiet and too far away which means you have to have a car.  Mojacar is lively has public transport and easy reach shops.  There is Go carting in Garrucha next door, ten pin bowling, crazy golf and the beaches a skate board park exercise areas and much more.  Lots of live bands in the evenings and plenty of places to eat out.

Thanks all. Really appreciate your advice. We made an offer yesterday on the house in Mojacar Playa so fingers crossed we get it.
