We are driving back to UK next week via Channel tunnel. What will be required in terms of testing and documentation?

Will there be checks on the Spanish/French border?

We have two dogs.

As things stand you must book a PCR test for your return to England and isolate until you get a negative result. I think you’ll get a reference number when arranging a test to be entered on your passenger locator form. It could change at the drop of a hat now Omicron is in the mix

It must be a PCR test!!!!!

They will give you a reference number which you put on the passenger locator form.

List of gov approved suppliers on gov website

Tests prices range from £34.99 upwards

You will also now need a pre departure test before entering the UK if you are going to the UK after 4am on Tuesday 07.

I came back to the UK from Spain recently you don’t need a PCR test you can do an Antigen test which is much cheaper. You can do this all online, I used Randox.

I have checked the Gov UK website it states the following:

The tests can include the following

A Nucleic acid test, including PCR test

A LAMP test

A Antigen test, such as LFD ( Lateral flow device ) test.

Lifted from gov.uk website
Changes to pre-departure testing from 4am, Tuesday 7 December 2021

From 4am, Tuesday 7 December all people aged 12 years and over must take a PCR or LFD COVID-19 test before they travel to England from abroad.

You must take the test within the 2 days before you travel to England.

This will apply whether you qualify as fully vaccinated or not.

You must also take a PCR test within 2 days of arriving and self-isolate until you get a negative test result, even if you’re fully vaccinated

driving through France now is not allowed unless you are a resident of France so that is going to affect all Channel tunnel and ferry services.
