Haven't picked anywhere to live yet as I am looking to be able to bring my lurcher and he will need somewhere to run and play daily and safely away from built up areas without it being expensive to buy property. Need advice on where to start. Nice village perhaps.

Hi

Try Voss Homes, suggest villages north of Huercal Overa, plenty of walks on ramblas and countryside. Were in Fuente Amarga

Depends on your budget as some of the towns & villages just inland from Coast might be suitable.

I.know this  seems strange but technically dogs.must be.kept on leads. Also, if.it is a hunting area, like our mountain, hunters will shoot a strange dog & also the potential for poison baits deliberately set for foxes, etc.

Best of luck,

Bob and Sandra

Don't be put off living in this area with a dog probably 75 percent of people in this area have at least one dog, as long as you are senable when walking your dog you will be ok plenty of ramblers for going walking Sunday's is the day hunters are about and as long as you keep to the river bed and don't let your dog go too far in front of you

My brother lives in Canjayar about 30 mins north of almeria in the moutains. They have 2 dogs who they walk without leads

Yes there are hunters in the area, but they tend to be higher up the mountains.

Its like everything, be a responsible dog owner. Good luck

I walk  my dogs without leads high up in the mountains where I live, there are no people and no houses, as already said the hunters are out on Sundays and some Red Days in my area, so that day we all have a day of rest. The only other thing is being a lurcher does he/she hunt rabbit s  cos if the recall isn't good that could be a problem for you. Your dog could end up being miles away. Anyway good luck, I hope this helps. Bob and Sandra are right dogs are suppose to be on leads, but that is only really enforced in towns or urbanisations etc, and then not only do they have to be on leads you should always carry your poo bags because the Garda can stop you and ask to see them, if you haven't got any they can fine you. Hope this helps and good luck
