Good morning all.

Well, looks like we have found our ideal property on the outskirts of Cuevas.  Very early days yet so nothing is set in stone.

Could I please ask for thoughts on the town, places to see, eat, walk the dogs off the lead in safety, coach trips etc, etc. Places to avoid....

As well as facilities such as medical centre, vets, supermarkets and anything else you can think of. We bank with Cajamar..is there a branch in town?

We already live in Spain so are aware of the headaches of red tape! Paperwork wise, we would need change of address for our residencas and driving licences and will need to register on the Padron. We look forward to all your comments/views...good or bad ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Hola!

I live near Cuevas; it has all the usual facilities (including a Cajamar bank), and is very Spanish. There is also a population of mainly migrant workers due to there being a large agricultural area. I like Cuevas as a town it is not touristic like the costas. There is a market twice a week also. For dog walking there is the rambla; there is a park but dogs are not permitted. Let me know if you want any further info. Iโ€™ve lived here for 7 years and still enjoy the life, and speaking Spanish is a necessity (the vet in cuevas speaks English). Hope this is helpful.

Saludos

Many thanks for your reply.

Our Spanish isn't great but we try and intend to try much harder!

We'd thought about the rambla for the dogs so it's good that you have mentioned it.

Do you know if there are any interpreters locally?  Our doctors here insist on Brits having an interpreter with them for appointments.

We would probably also need one ( or an English speaking gestoria) to help with changing all our documents to our new address (fingers crossed it all goes through because I am sooooo excited!)

Do you know of any coach trips organised by the town hall or something like that.... just a thought to give us a way to get to meet people from the local area.

Look forward to hearing from you

Carol

Ps.  Any places to avoid living?

Yes, there main centro medical is in cuevas, and I believe itโ€™s where you need to register (I am not pension age therefore have private health).

I frequent Cuevas a lot as itโ€™s my main shopping area and as a musician I go to the Bella Dorita Bar which is close to the medical center.

In terms of being safe, I canโ€™t say I know of anywhere that would be considered โ€˜unsafeโ€™ in cuevas as I have dogs which often walk alone.

Where are you hoping to live ie in the campo or nearby village? You can PM if you do not want to share specific details via the forum.

Regards

You may need an interpreter in which case there are several. Check out the Forum magazine for a start.
Regarding trips; I donโ€™t know if the town hall provide these, but there are organisations locally that do this.
