Hi we are making the move to Spain with our cat in March and I have been looking at ferry crossings. There are no rooms that allow animals left so I just wondered how everyone else got their pets out there.

Hi how are you both?

You decided to move down permanently?

We drove down via the shuttle with our cat and stayed at a couple of pet friendly hotels. Neither of which charged us for her.

We’ve moved now as we discussed. A lot warmer lol.

Le shuttle from Folkestone to Calais, then edge of Paris, fortunately at night, had a couple of nights in hotels, went over the Millau Bridge, although a lot of people go down the other side of Paris.

We planned it using the aa route planner, with hindsight we would have done the first night before Paris rather than after as it made it quite a long run, but we managed.

The cat loved it, she spent most of the journey on Trevs knee, we shoved her back in her box whenever we stopped, she never used the litter tray and hardly ate all the way down.

At Folkestone they didn’t even ask to see her, just checked the paperwork and asked us to scan her microchip.

Let us know when you are down and we’ll arrange to meet up.

Hi if you get an evening shuttle there is a very good hotel about 10mins drive from the  train(French side),they are pet friendly.

means you can get a good nights sleep then an early start the next day,I did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that, they have SECURE parking as a load of the French police also stay there dont be put off by them walking around in uniform with their guns on they are very friendly and polite,The hotel staff are also very friendly and speak very good English

here is the link

Thank you so much for the information. It's certainly a good alternative. I have managed to book a ferry to Santander but it's not until April and I think my buyers want to move in sooner. There may be a cancellation so I can hopefully move the date.

I didn't realize you could take your car on the shuttle?

We must meet up when we move. You must come to the house. There is a lovely restaurant just down the road so we could go there.

Xx

The first stop was Orleans, which was too far on first leg! Have you sold the house In Contador?
