We are in the process of buying a home in los cerricos but we can’t seem to find flights from Bham to almeria . We were told that flights don’t run during winter times to almeria and that the area is like a ghost town in the winter months is this the case please

there are very few flights to Almeria airport in the winter the main airports of Alicante and Malaga are better served.  even the new airport in Corvera has not taken off yet especially since the pandemic hit travel.

First flight of the season from Birmingham to Almeria is 30 April, and the last one is usually during the last week of October.  Otherwise Malaga have all year round flights.

Hi Kirsty, we don't live far from Los Cerricos and we always use Alicante Airport for, number of flights, price & times, and according to Google, it's just 20 minutes longer!

Do you mean Los Cerricos is "like a ghost town", if so then that would be up to you, we manage in a place much smaller!

Best wishes

Puff

Whoever told you Almeria province was a ghost town is either trying to put you off buying in the area for their own personal reasons or is talking through the back of their head!!!  Yes there are less people but plenty of  visitors not just from UK and dont get me started on motorhomes!   Mojacar, Vera Playa, etc. (Dont know about the Albox area) have plenty of  bars,   restaurants and things going on in the way of entertainment.  Come and see for yourself.  I agree that Alicante is your best bet, not Malaga unless you want several hours drive.  Almeria doesn't have flights from Manchester or Birmingham but Gatwick does, and i believe a friend of ours is coming over to Covera airport later this month too.

To be fair, in the last three weeks as holiday  visitors we had to look very hard to find a restaurant open for lunch overlooking the beaches of San Juan, Mojacca or Vera Playa, most are closed but not noted as closed on line.  All but one of the bars and restaurants in Huercal Overa we tried were open because they are used by locals.

We are buying in Alboleas area. No flights to Murcia or Almeria How do most residents get to and from airport (alicante). I presume taxi is expensive over that distance but there does not seem to be bus or train
