Hi Sue and Neil here we are hoping to move to live in Almeria for 6 to 7 months of the year during the winter but we are at a loss to where the most suitable area is. we intend on long term renting until we are settled on an area and then our intention is to purchase a property. we would like some advice on location between Vera and Roquetes de Mar, near the coast, amenities, but open all year round and with some English speaking residents and not just a tourist area. we are in our early 60s but still pretty active, but would like somewhere that is not to hilly.  I, Sue have traveled around spain many years ago and fell in love with the Almeria area. we are coming out in 2 weeks time and staying in Mojacar as a base, hired a car to look around but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Sue and Neil

Hi Sue and Neil,

I love Mojacar and yes, I admit the winters are quieter and places close, but there is always somewhere to go eat or have a drink. The views of the ocean always manage to take my breath away. such a beautiful place. There are plenty of social/active groups to join in the área also.

Good luck with your search

Best Regards

Look inland too.

We're in a small village called Urcal, featured a few times on place in the sun.

There's a few properties here for sale with local agents, including Voss and a nice property we looked to buy before time constraints fouled things up, place is on pvt sale and just had a new fly free enclosure, hot tub, is a lovely villa, theres a nice vibe here, nice bar, doctors, 7 mins from the A7/E15, 12 mins from Huercal Overa, quite a few nice walks.

We love the peace and tranquility and having a pool dont need to be on a beach or the coast much as we're only about 45 mins away.

Murcia airport is 90 mins north, (Ikea), Almeria airport roughly 65 mins South, nice place to spend time walking around.

Alicante roughly 2 hrs.

Motorways are usually trafficked lightly, nowhere near as fraught as M25 lol. Driving on the right is a doddle once you get used to the Spanish not usjng indicators lol.

Any info just ask away, theres always someone got an answer.

Hi

We are coming out in April to view some properties with Spanish property choice and noticed the company Voss sells as well. There are many nice villas around the Arbelous area that we are coming out to view. Does anyone have any advice about this area. We are looking to relocate and retire there.

Thanks

Susan

Arboleas covers a large area, when we came to view villas we did indeed see some lovely proprrties but some were/are rather remote, the Arboleas you see on place in the sun wont nrcessarily be what the programme portrays, we ended up seeing 6 villas in one day with Coles of Andalucia and ended up in the middle of nowhere driving on roads more suited to rally corsica with no barriers and huge drops off the tracks if you werent careful, ended up near cucador.

Best to have an open mind, some roads are good some not but generally the views are awesome.

Voss dont tend to do much in Arboleas and Albox but have a very good portfolio of villas closer to Huercal Overa, they helped friends buy a great villa just outside Taberno, and partner bought our villa in Urcal thru them.

Hi there, we love Vera Playa ourselves and have a first floor 2 bed apartment with terrace a short drive/long walk from Vera Playa up for long term rental at £375 per month plus bills. It is on a calm apartment complex of a few blocks with lots of outdoor space and an indoor and outdoor pool.

Further details and pics are at: Looking for the impossible dream

Just let me know if you would like more details.

Best wishes,

Mandy

Hi Sue we have just bought in Partaloa it is really lovely with 360 views of the hills. A short drive to the village of Partaloa 5 min drive to Cantoria and 10 min from Albox with the main amenities. Also only 15-20 mins to Huercal Overa a larger town. Almeria airport is about 50min drive. We found that most places are quite neat to drive to but the roads here are really ok once you get usd to driving on the right. We are also in our early 60s. We bought with Almeria Homes I really recommend them they were really good Daniel spent 2 whole days with us showing us around all different areas before we bought our home. Good luck on moving here hope it goes well you will love it. Oh by the way Albox do free Spanish lessons as do most towns.
