Does anyone know if all the banks are as much hassle to deal with as Sabadell? My Spanish solicitor set me up with them but used my wife’s mobile. I keep trying to get it changed but not a chance even after I log in online (and that was bad enough to do originally)

Sabadell are one of the better banks - their app is head and shoulders above many of the others; I bank with Sabadell and their service will even vary branch to branch.

You won’t be able to change the number without going into the branch NORMALLY but I HAVE done it over the phone with my branch in Vera.

But you will receive many responses saying “NO ‘x’ bank is better they have been fabulous and …” etc etc; personally, I have banked with Sabadell in Vera since 2014 and have found them absolutely fantastic - but I know others who say that Sabadell in other towns is no good.  Like I say, the bank will vary from town to town

It’s a while since this has happened but I would again echo Dario’s observations re Sabadell. I previously banked with them in Gava (near Barcelona). At the time, about fifteen years ago, they were the only Spanish bank that would offer me a mortgage in Spain as a none Spanish resident and with a none European contract of employment. Subsequently after buying a property in Vera Playa I now use the Vera pueblo and, on occasions, the Mojácar branch I have had no problems at either location.

I have also had accounts with other Spanish banks including BBVA and La Caixa and my partner still has an account with Santander, in my opinion Sabadell are far better than these and other alternatives.

As with other agencies public and private in Spain service can vary from location to location.Overall if you need a Spanish bank account I would always recommend Sabadell.

Thanks to both parties. It is good to know that in general Sabadell  are OK. It is just causing me problems at the moment. I don’t trust phone Apps so all online banking is done on my computer. This means that unless my wife is at home I cannot put any codes in.

Yes, with Sabadell the security procedures are very very good - but linked to the phone app.

I use the Sabadell Bank phone app all the time and I really am happy to recommend it and attest to its safety.  We had a business account with Caja Rural originally and the app was ..... well, there are no words to express just how BAD the app was - not in terms of security, but in terms of actually being able to do anything!!

Sabadell are on the ball with maintaining and updating the app and keeping it secure.  I really do like using it and do not feel any concern at all.  (at this point I should point out I have been involved with IT for many years, have written websites and had some involvement in internet security)

My issue is more with keeping data on a mobile phone. They are easily stolen or cloned. Maybe I watch too many spy films. Even so if Sabadell would just use a bit of common sense this would not have been a problem.

No data is stored on your phone with the app and cloning it won't get access to your account without whichever security measure you have chosen (I use iPhone X with facial recognition, passcode as backup)

Sabadell have used a great deal of common sense in utilising Two-Factor authentication to ensure access to your account is as secure as possible ... it doesn't, however, account for those who for whatever reason don't like banking apps.

You will find the exact same issue with many of the banks here, as the move is most definitely towards online with reliance on mobile phone apps to provide the required two-factor security.

We used to bank with Sabadell - just go into the branch - they will update there and then and print off about 20 sheets of paper for you to sign

With personal experience I would avoid Sabadell bank.I now use Cajamar for everyday banking and Bankinter for my mortgage.. Definitely not Santander or Ibercaja....
