HI

We are moving to Spain on the Brexit train.

My son is a chef and looking to buy a small restaurant. Not serving spanish food - maybe English tapas

Please can anyone from the Oria area let me know if it would be a good idea or a terrible idea - any help most appreciated thanks !

I think it would be a good idea but you would need to chose your town/area carefully.  Maybe not Oria as I think we are too small to make it pay.  You need somewhere larger, chose carefully.

Hi,ednad is right! Oria is a small quiet village.

If you want busy and lively I would suggest maybe coastal, but I think it will be hard wherever you try thanx to covid really hitting the hospitality sector very hard.

Think long and hard!!

I agree, now would not be a good time to open.

The I believe we are still on 60% inside bars, beside that many British are not going out at the moment.  This is a great country to move too but not recommended to start a business at the moment.  I would wait for another 12 months to see what happens, but there is nothing stopping you from looking around and getting all your info in place.

Hi All thanks for your advice i am currently aware of the current climate in relation to opening a buisness. I do not need advice on that aspect thanks.

My question was specific to Oria as in expat wise and it was answered - too small a town. On that basis I will look in a different area.

Thanks for your help

Well I wish you the best of luck! Spain at the moment is still a terrible idea though as we are bound to be deep in another recession in the next couple of months, not a good time for a business venture however experienced you are, bankrupt is bankrupt!!

But still,good luck!

Thanks - luckily I have a UK business which is growing and profitable- so I am able to take my time and a business in Spain will not be my sole source of income.

So bankrupt- no that won't happen- even if it takes me 12 months, plus my partner is very skilled.

Thanks again for your input most appreciated 👍

Your more than welcome and I really do wish you all the best!

I was referring to Spain being bankrupt soon not you!!! Sorry if that was unclear.

If you feel confident then why not have a go? As long as it doesn't ruin you in the process.    ;-)
