Good evening everyone,

My husband and I are looking to move to the  Mojacar area over the next couple of years. We would like a 15-20 walk to a coastal area but also be able to escape tourist/ busy areas and have a local traditional village area with one or two bars/  tavernas. Any guidance appreciated 😊

Hi.A 15-20 minute walk to the beach is going to put you right in a tourist area and, yes, it's going to be very busy in season. Even somewhere smaller like Villaricos is rammed in July and August although it does have a more village feel than Mojacar or Vera Playa.

What is your priority - being able to walk to the sea, being in a traditional village or being in an area that isn't too touristy? I think you'll struggle to get all three .If you're willing to be a short drive from the coast that will open up more possibilities.

Why not try a 90 day rental first? Best of luck.

Thank you for replying Juliet, it was very helpful. I think your suggestions if renting first is a good idea.. we can get sense of where we want to be.

Thanks again x

Hi Juliet.

The area of Marina de la Torre, Mojacar is about 20 minutes walk to the fishing port of Garrucha and maybe 30 mins to Mojacar shopping centre. The location is pretty and quiet. There are many bars, restaurants and shops in Garrucha and a number of bars and restaurants on the walk through to central Mojacar. The only issue is Marina de la Torre includes a very steep hill. If you look at rentals towards the bottom of the hill around where the hotels are positioned the walk to the beach is minutes and it is lovely. The location is quite desirable but not too expensive. The bus is reliable on the beach road so once there you wouldn't need to always walk. This area suits some but not everyone but for us the location is perfect.

Good luck 👍

We have an apartment in marina de la torre overlooking the golf course. It is in Av costa Levante which is on the flat ground across the road from best Mojacar hotel and two mins from beach. I regularly walk into Garrucha which is a working fishing town so always somewhere to go and also a twenty minute walk to Parque commercial with shops and bars. The bus is regular and costs just €1.20 but you can get a pass which makes it cheaper. I know there are a few apartments for sale in our complex. We love it there. Other apartments up the hill are for sale but you would need a car unless you are extremely fit but before buying anything up the hill I would suggest you try walking it first although they have amazing views

i hope you find somewhere that makes you happy but Mojacar Playa is in my mind the best. Regards

Hi there,

As said by previous people before you weigh out lots of cash go and see for yourself for a month or 2 and get a feel for yourself, we have a 2 bed new apartment in palamares just a 10 min drive to Garrucca and Mojacar so you can explore the areas. We have just moved out and now live in Mojacar so we can assist if required.

Good Luck.

We live on the Orihuela Costa and bought an apartment in Mojacar Playa last June and have to say it’s the best thing we ever did. The pace and way of life is fantastic.

You mentioned Marina de la Torre and each time we visit we always have a walk around here which we did this morning. It really is a lovely part of Mojacar so well kept. The green park area that runs for most of the front is always immaculate full of native plants. Just above the golf course that runs through the area there are a couple of streets that are full of wonderful villas with amazing views always enjoy seeing the news ones that are being built.

To finish off we stopped at the Marina Mar hotel which has a nice terrace area around one of the pools for a couple of drinks.

As people mention rent first so not to make a big mistake but really this is a very special part of the world.
