we are retired and have decided if not too late to move over permanent, we are still in the UK, can we rent a long term property until we purchase,  and is there a solicitor who does everything that needs to be done for the residency process including bank account etc.

Certainly not too late - you have up until the 31/12 to get here under current regs; obviously you wouldn’t want to leave it right to the last minute though.

Yes, you can certainly take a long term rental - I’d suggest that’s actually preferable, as it’ll give you a chance to figure out where you want to live.

Plenty of solicitors that will meet your requirements - for a price of course.  It really depends now on where you intend to live as to what solicitor you get recommended.
