How is brexit affecting the process of moving to Spain, has there been a rise in red tape for brits who wish to move and live in Spain, also do british nationals who were already living in Spain have to take out Spanish nationality to remain living there?

since Brexit the eu has built a brick wall for anyone with a UK passport moving to Spain,now this wall has a couple of gates but getting the key to the gate is very difficult BUT can be done
Any Brit who was living in Spain before the Brexit grace period ended SHOULD have taken Residencia,it is different to Nationality,if they did not then they are subject to the 90day rule

Contrary to the brick wall described, the EU has not made it any more difficult - by leaving the EU, Britain chose to put itself behind a wall that had long since existed for Third Country Nations.
Moving here has now become an order of magnitude more difficult, although not impossible, but certainly more expensive.
Pre Brexit you could arrive, settle, and work, registering your residence. Now you can’t … you have to first apply for a Visa, and once you have received that (providing the paperwork you are now required to submit is in order), you then migrate to Spain. You are obliged to spend no more than 10 months in a 5 year period outside of Spain and after 5 years you automatically become a permanent resident.
You are not obliged to take Spanish Citizenship and that is no easy thing to obtain in any event.
Has Brexit made it more difficult? Oh hell yes.

Get one thing straight Mr Hart. It was the UK that built that wall, not the EU. The UK has distanced itself from from the EU, not the other way round. Newsflash:- It was the UK voted to leave the EU and it did. Remember the catchphrase Let's Get Brexit Done. It's done, so what's the problem? Wasn't the NHS going to be funded indefinitely by the UK and more money strewn towards it? It hasn't happened and never will. The NHS will be privatised beyond recognition sooner than later. Thanks a million, Brexit.
Suddenly, there's people querying:- Why does the EU not want to know us in the UK? Aren't we Brits and we were promised that the EU would come come pandering to us. But, Spain and the EU didn't. Suddenly, it's the UK that must negotiate with Spain/EU. Spain and the EU has almost exhausted negotiations. Why should they give priority to a non EU country? The EU will run the EU and no longer will have the UK demanding to run the EU. Wasn't that what Brexit was about? Soverignty or in other words the UK would have control over all that matters in the UK. And of course, that's what happened - Wasn't it?
And then there's the " buried head in the sand brigade" that still hold onto Brexit as a work in progress. Some progress? Just accept you're outside of the tent and someday (probably not in my lifetime) a majority in the UK will see the benefit of EU membership and ask for re-entry. But by then Scotland will be outside of the UK and likely Northern Ireland too. So the United Kingdom will become the Disunited Kingdom sooner than later.
Britain wanted to stand alone. But, it's finding itself somewhat isolated. Don't blame the EU, you asked for it and got it. So what's your problem? Take it up with Liz Truss or whatever new party leader will be elected by the Tories.

Brexit was not designed for the convenience of people who prefer to leave Britain permanantly, true.

Without wishing to get sidetracked, but Brexit wasn't designed for the convenience of anyone except those wishing to keep their tax havens secret and not be forced to pay tax in the country in which the money is earned
Unless you have a lot of money and a great deal of patience I would stay where you are. Spain is not all its cracked up to be anymore.

Well Matthew and a few others, I disagree, 10 years down the line and the UK will flourish, its hard now and will be for some time, but, I for one always objected to being told by a body of people that didn't even live in my own country. what to do, wear and eat. Its was all very one sided.

10 years down the line and what remains of the UK (after Scotland gains independence and NI reunites with ROI) will be begging to rejoin at least the Common Market. That's what a good deal of financial analysts who have not got their snout firmly in the Brexit trough seem to think, anyway
What do financial analysts know anyway. Airy Fairy trying to predict the future. I might as well get my glass ball out. I can see this being a lively debate. If I were Scottish I would be voting for independence. cant comment on Ireland, dont know enough about it.
