calima in almeria

we are leaving tenerife partly because of the "calima" the dust haze that comes over from the sahara desert.. this always causes coughing and a hazy unhealthy climate.... can anyone tell us what the air is like in your area and if you experience similar conditions if so what time of the year ............may thanks andy and sue collier

mainland Spain along the Costa gets the duststorms as well although not so often or heavy,inland not a problem

I live in Valle del Este, within sight of the Mediterranean - we get winds here, but not dust storms.

I live in Mojacar and yes we have winds but not dust or sand storms.

We do get calima here occasionally, and when we get it if it rains too, then we get 'red rain'.  However it's not as bad as in the Canaries by half as we are not geographically situated to get east winds from the Sahara as you are in the Canary Islands so it is relatively rare.
