Please confirm with lawyer but - answering in reverse order:-

If you are in a partnership and one of you has an Irish passport, then yes, the partner comes in as the partner of an EU Citizen - a note on partnerships though - Spain is really not very good at recognising de-facto or civil partnerships.  This is something that has come up before in the fo...

...rum, and another forum member has contacted Mundi Abagados and sent me directly their advice; to whit whilst CAB Spain and many lawyers will say that a de-facto partnership is fine for Residencia, their experience with Extranjeria is that it most definitely isn’t.  To be recognised, a civil partnership must be recognised and attested to by “relevant authority” (whoever that may be!!) in country of origin and apostilled AND translated!! And even then, 80% or more of the time it’s not accepted.  They like marriage certificates here.  If you are already married, ignore previous paragraph 😂

Income.  Now, as I understand it, owning property here does assist with Residencia, but not renting - I speak from experience here 😁. For Residencia, it is proof either of income of 5.300€ per annum per person applying OR an annual average bank balance of 9.050€ attested to by certificate from bank in Spanish.

Do you have lawyers here already? Please please confirm the above with them as things at Extranjeria change fairly quickly

Hi

Many thanks for your quick reply. We converted our civil partnership to a marriage some years ago so we do have a marriage certificate.

As you say we will get our lawyer to check everything out for us.

Once again may thanks.

EXCELLENT!! I wish you all the very best for this immensely exciting impending move

If you arrive before 31/12 you can get in as an EU citizen in your own right on a British passport.  With one of you having an Irish passport, you really are covered both ways.

I don't think we should be arguing Brexit again. Lots of blood were spilt in Brexit issues on this forum, mainly my blood. We know the UK wants to leave the EU and I think the EU should facilitate. (I can nearly hear James asking "Where is Matt going on this . . ?").

Remember, when you were in your twenties and you met the girl of your dreams. You couldn't wait to see her as often as possible and to share whatever etc for years. Suddenly, she says "Let's end our relationship." You agree, the relationship ends, you're broken-hearted and can't see the wood from...

... the trees. But, you know your girlfriend wants this and if you think of her welfare, breaking up is what she wants so be it. You get a phone call from her six months later and she wants to rekindle the fire. In my opinion, you'd be wrong to take this heat.

UK leaving the EU is no different. I'm not sure the Conservatives know fully what they are doing, but they have been elected by the UK people to govern and that's what they are doing. The UK has been good to the EU and vice versa. I just hope the UK and the EU can remain good friends, but good friends only.

Well said Matthew......Just let it go everyone....Brexit is happening.....End Of...There will always be ways they can come over in 5/6 years.....It is just that at the moment NO ONE KNOWS what the restrictions/ difficulties will be.....(Not even Dario who likes to know it all...LOL)

Couldn’t resist making a snide remark  there could you?  But just a correction - Brexit isn’t happening - it’s already happened.

I know, because I follow the Spanish government site.  As I’ve said elsewhere, thinking there will be “special arrangements” down the track is a fantasy.  Spain makes no other such “Special Arrangements” for other third countries - including South America and the Philippines where immigrants have a MUCH speedier path to citizenship ... what on earth makes anyone think “special arrangements” will be made for UK?

Unless, of course, in 5 - 6 years time we see #BrejoinEU ... but as Matthew says, I think now that would be a mistake.  EU is much better off without UK, as mentioned recently in the news.

No...You won't get me to have a row.....that's what you do best with people on here....have seen is soooo often with you.....      I bet now that the UK has 2 medical research groups already testing a vaccine, then people from outside the UK will want something they have! (As You say Dario that Europe will be better off without the UK!) China and Russia have already said if they find a vaccine they will not share, and the USA will be looking after their own people....
