Hi all,

Booked flights and hotel to go to home country for visit before Christmas then realised TIE would of expired by then and our renewal will be in process..so will we have problems leaving and entering Spain an expired TIE ? Or do they give you some sort of proof of application to show HELP.

Have you got an appointment for renewal of NLV? At that Renewal, they will go through the TIE renewal as well

Thanks for your reply ..yes hopefully meeting with people who can submit it for us soon.. it’s seems all too complicated then again it’s Spain..shame they didn’t think about the infrastructure/staffing etc to cope with the new bureaucracy.

It was working OK just after end of transition period - those of us on green cards got TIE’s with little effort.  The problem has only arisen in the last year or so, and it appears partly due to criminal enterprise taking up large blocks of bookings then “selling” them at an extortionate price.  I understand the investigation is ongoing and arrests have been made

Ummmm if you renew your NLV, then TIE will happen at the same time

Hi again,

Renewing can take months ..it’s 6 weeks here to get your marriage cert translated and sworn before you even begin submitting documents nightmare .yes in practice it is the same but actually months between granting you visa and picking up your new card.

Right … so don’t you go to Extranjería in Almeria to do it? It’s normally one week between applying for TIE and picking it up

We renewed our TIE in September last year, our fingerprint appointments in Almería were July and September this year (the earliest we could get, and not together), my husband collects his card this month and mine is next month, 6 weeks later.

They’ve had problems as I’ve highlighted earlier, which they are in the process of sorting; they’ve also brought two more CNP stations in to help with the backlog
