My name is Mona and with my husband Alex we are considering moving to the Costa de Almeria. We will be living there all year round and would love some views on the best areas to move to.We want facilities to hand i.e shops, restaurants and health facilities and no hilly terrain,as we are both healthy now we must look to the future.Thank you.
Given the size of Almeria Province have you thought re. Coastal as opposed to Inland, distance you would be prepared to live from Coast, temperatures during Winter, public transport, etc. Do you.wish mainly EXPAT or not?

Bob and Sandra thank you for your prompt reply.Ideally we would like to be no more than half an hour from the coast. As we dont speak Spanish it would make more sense to live in an expat community.Although we will have a car public transport is a necessity for the future or other eventualities. As for climate as warm as possible please during the winter monthsâș
Hi,
Doubtless others will add to this but
On the Coast
Mojacar Playa & Pueblo, Vera Playa, Garrucha, Villaricos, Palomares, San Juan de los Terreros, Carboneras.
Inland
Turre, Los Gallardos, Vera Town, Antas, Puerto Rey, La Conception.
Huercal Overa is about 40min from Coast and.unless you have a jump jet don't believe that Arboleas & Albox are 1/2 hr from Coast.
There are a number of small hamlets & villages strewn around.
Happy hunting.
The further Inland.the colder in winter & hotter in Summer.
We know as we have a coastal apt & an inland cottage.

we live in Garrucha and it is a very nice place but it is mainly a Spanish town although many people speak a little English and are very helpful it can be a little awkward trying to make yourself understood.
Thank you for that information.I know what its like as I live in bodrum at the present, people are lovely and friendly but often trying to get understood is hard work, even when you think you have the words in Turkish they still dont understand, obviously not pronounced correctlyđ
What is Turkey like in winter?
Do you mind if I ask why are you considering moving from Turkey to Spain?
We live on the Bodrum peninsula in a beautiful place called Kucukbuk Gundogan which has Turkbuku on one side and Yalikavak on the other. It is very quiet in winter but has been really busy in the summer. It is where most people from Istanbul and Ankara escape to for their holidays. It can get cold from Dec to April but ofter it is colder indoors than outside, even with heaters, the houses dont hold the heat.We have a few reasons why we are moving, we have just become grandparents and want to be nearer our family in Brussels, two and a half hours against four and a half hours and much more in winter as the direct flights stop at end of Sept, could be anything up to ten hours. The Bodrum area is hilly and we are getting older, although we have spectular sea views we have plenty of steps to climb. The last more important thing is you cannot get private health insurance over 65 years.Turkey used to have a reciprocal health with the UK but Britain ended that a few years ago.

Super helpful member
Roquetas de Mar, south of Almeria city, is a flat coastal area, warm in winter, long prom-paseo and there are Brit expats around although there are also Spanish classes.
