We are over 65 but no real health issues.  Potentially for resdencia but due to Coronavirus our house sale has fallen through here.  So in limbo at the moment

I would recommend Sanitas for two good reasons.  One is that ALL lab analysis tests  are covered and so are expensive electro magnetic scans and colonoscopy.  You do not get this complete cover with ASSA , (who always seem to want you to go to Murcia province if you need to see a specialist, for reasons only known to their representatives!) or Asisa who don't include colonoscopy in their cover.  The other reason I recommend Sanitas  is that there is an English language contact phone line available and also an  online consultancy.  I do wish I had   stayed with Sanitas as I changed to Adeslas a few years ago to cut costs.  However, unless you speak Spanish well, I wouldn't advise Adeslas either as their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Sanitas occasionally offer promotions, freeblies and various other things not included in the other insurances.  They once sent me a coupon for a free food allergy testing in Almería which was very helpful and would have cost me quite a bit if I had had to pay for it.

If you are both over 65 a colonoscopy is an important thing to have cover for and only Sanitas and Adeslas include this in their insurance.  I'm also elegible for Spanish Health Service but would have to have very definite symptoms before being referred to a hospital to have this done.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here, what would I expect to pay for me and my partner to get health insurance with Santa's, thanks Stewert.

It will all depend on your age but you would need to get a quote which you can do online (in English). Type in 'Sanitas Spain quote" that should give you a link where you can get the information.  Sanitas were taken over by BUPA  over 25 years ago so they are a very sound and we'll established company.
