Good morning

Was wondering if anyone knows a reasonable price but good way to bring over bulk furniture from the uk to Spain at all? is it easier to bring a van over and drive ourselves or a removals van as such? Need to bring over some heavy stuff like bbq, garden furniture, tv etc

Any advise will be greatly appreciated

I put a post on here about this subject about 3 weeks ago. Removal firms cost thousands £££. I had my own van and did the journey myself via the tunnel. It would still be cheaper to hire a Luton van than hire a Removal company (£1000 for 8 days hire). The French customs officers are not bothered as long as your final destination is not France. That said there is always a chance you might get one that just has to be a jobsworth. Hire a van, make a list of your stuff with secondhand values written down, stop at Le Mans or Toures, then travel to Burgos ( beautiful city) then carry on down to southern Spain. The French tolls roads are brilliant but expensive. Hope this helps. If you look at the comments on my previous post, you will see others have done similar.

Depending where you are staring from in the uk makes a difference . I’ve driven down many times to mojacar but I only live half an hour away from Newhaven . I love that midnight crossing . Dock at 4 to 5 am and down past Rouen by 6 .French roads are brilliant and depending on your rush you can avoid the tolls . Me been an impatient sod I tend to do it in one hit , just stopping for diesel and a drink and sandwich . 20 to 22 hours from ferry to playa . But it’s nice to break it up and enjoy the drive if in company .. it can take me longer to get to my daughters near Leeds than half way across France . Good luck .                                      I’ve boxed a horse and carriage down to a friends farm near Limoges on the newhaven ferry it’s only a four hour crossing . Non of the queue and hassle of Dover

Thank you. I think after working it all out, probably be best to purchase things over Spain than bring stuff from uk over. We haven’t emigrated fully and won’t be for another few years yet so got plenty of time to buy garden furniture and another bbq etc

We can bring bikes on a plane I recently discovered it’s £50 per bike so isn’t too bad

Yes I often wonder about transporting furniture . If you are living out in Spain permanently perhaps some heirlooms are nice to have but it’s nice to start anew life with new stuff . Depending on the financial situation second hand furniture is a way to go through auction sites or private advertisements. I took on a long term let empty apartment and furnished it cheaply and easily that way . Sold the lot when new people bought the place .

We just did this bus the euro tunnel, French not bothered at all and as said above just take list and second hand values. Nice drive down, we didn’t do toll roads , we stopped at Poitiers and then stopped in Teruel in Spain. We were driving to Turre, Almeria. No problems at all and very good roads. Good luck!

Brilliant

thanks for the information

were in no rush, would more than likely work out cheaper to purchase some stuff whilst were over, also eliminating the plug differences
