That has to be THE most open-ended question!
Which area? Spain? There are nice villas everywhere!
Why not come down before you even think of buying!

You really need to visit area to see what’s what. Only your opinion means anything to you. I’ve been visiting the area for 20 years so knew what we were looking for. Still took us 6 months to find it.

I guess the easy bit is buying the villa.
The question then is what are you going to do with it for the other 6 months of the year when you are not holidaying - ( assuming you don't have residency! ). The people I know and speak to and who have holiday places here, not to mention renowned people in this Forum, will all suggest that buying is not the way to go unless there is a long term plan of living down here permanently.
I'm sure many on here will wade in with good advice.
My advice is simple. Investigate. Take advice from anyone and everyone. Don't rush. Visit. Explore your options. Make a plan. Don't let the heart rule the head.
Good luck!!!!!

Thank u that's helpful. I was thinking long wkend at first x I am older than hubby so he's got some yrs to work yet I am retired. As the airport is only hr that wld work as I cld get from mine to Bournemouth I've checked already they fly to almeria.
Arboleas is our home and we love it but it's not for everyone. The area of Arboleas is big, you can drive for half an hour and still be in Arboleas. You will need a car whilst your here as some areas are on the remote side. Also Almeria is a seasonal airport and it's flights from the UK reduce during winter so it's not always possible to fly into Almeria. The only other options are Corvera in Murcia an hour and a half or Alicante, two hours away. Visit the area and do your research. Some friends of ours bought here without ever visiting first and are selling up and moving after a year. It's not for everyone. Good luck.
buying a villa for hoildaying think about the garden and the pool when you are not there they need to be taken care of and that costs money. As another poster has said the flights to Almeria are very few in the winter months so you will have to travel from further airports like Corvera or Alicante. You will need a car for the area so that is another expense.
Arboleas also still has a lot of properties stuck in the Inn 14 process and they have no papers so be very careful.
If you like the idea of living in the country with a village nearby it's a good option if you want to be near the sea it is 30 to 40 minutes drive away.
Also remember to 90 day in 180 rules for the time you can spend here.

The villa I've been interested in el pinar has no garden as such astra turf and pool. The one in arboleas very little shrubs only
Hi, the only El Pinar I know in this area is near a village called Bedar above Los Gallardos. It's not in Arboleas. You would definately need a car as its ten minutes drive up the mountain from Los Gallardos. You need to visit the area and see where these places are before committing to anything.
