Hi All,

Just returned to our villa due to covid 19 and found this mess in the bathroom even though all shutters and windows was closed, does anyone know what Insect or creature might have caused the mess, as I am a bit worried it might be something serious, any info would be appreciated on what caused it and what i need to do to stop it happening again.

You could seal up the entire property and still some insects will get in or remain inside. I know when I visit Spain I pull out the fridge/freezer, washing machine, sofas, mats,  etc and spray the livin' daylights out of everything. Also, I put down anti insect powder. My wife always elects me to do the usual deep clean where every floor tile is treated and cleaned. Mattresses need to be turned etc, some pillows dumped, under sinks disinfected etc. "U" bends in sinks, baths, toilets need special attention.

You can get pretty hard stuff too i.e. you seal up doors and windows with tape and spray/spread the stuff around and get out of the building for about twelve hours. When you return, wear an industrial face mask, clean up any residue and leave all windows and doors open for about an hour. Everything non human inside the property dies.

Sorry I don’t know either but I wouldn’t worry.  I am PARANOID about insects.   I don’t go to the Mathew school of cleaning lol.  My place is cleaned thoroughly when I leave,as will be yours  but all you need to do is,   Buy RED tin Maton from Mercadona or ferreteria. Maybe two if it’s a big house ,  Not expensive.   Inside, Spray all floor edges and corners window cills ,Doorways . Outside spray all round the base of the house, not absolutely necessary if you do Window cills, thresholds. I just do it lol. Just as you lock the door to leave lol.   I’ve got wooden doors so I then use gaffa tape and tape up the bottom of my French doors and front door lol. Told you I was Paranoid 🙄      That’s it. Simple.  Now,IF anything gets in. It dies within one foot of wherever it got in 😎. We leave for up to 8 months at a time and I’ve had to brush out about six of the tiny wormy centipede things, too small to see really they just curl up n dry out 😊.  Bonus is though it lasts for a year!  I just redo every time.

Hi, it looks to me like cockroach droppings - they also have a horrible smell. We had a problem once after we had not been to the apartment for 5 months. We think they came up through the plugholes or overflow on bath as they were just in the bathroom. We sprayed everywhere and when we leave now we put plugs in and tape over. No problems since.

Yes we do that too and something heavy over the shower drain too. I tape over the overflow on kitchen sink too.   Lol.
