Don’t you mean “directions” when Scotland and Ireland split?

I reckon Boris will cave.  He’s got a big mouth and a line of bluster, but always seems to roll over when the pressure is on (remember “I’ll be dead in a ditch before I apply for an extension”?)  still seems to be very much alive ... well, ambulatory.  Given his inability t...

Dario you are so funny haha, I just love your answers and comments and give such really helpful, honest advice.  Thank you hope you have a great Xmas 🎄🎄🍷🍷

ErnieR,have you ever played a game of cards?? assuming you have what you do not need is someone behind you telling the opponent what cards you have

Only a Brexiteer could hold a handful of nothing and tell everyone else they don’t know how to play cards.

When the opposite side holds all the aces, and knows you’re a crap card player, they don’t need to see your hand - they know you’re bluffing.

Or in Johnson’s case, flat-out lying.

Because if you didnt know, the remain brigade tried to put so many obstacles in the way, kept bleating about the outcome that the EU saw a partly divided country WHAT PART OF THAT CAN YOU NOT SEE

And you don’t see that it was the sheer outright lies told by you and your kind to bring about this mess that was responsible for dividing the country? You were so desparate to separate, the end justified the means and lie upon lie upon lie was told to bring it about, and then more lies to ensure it went through. Brexit is born of lies and built on lies, its foundation is untruth, its walls deception and it’s roof xenophobia, yet you won’t own it and want to make the inevitable problems that result someone else’s fault.

You told me to get a life. You get a brain. And then employ it in something other than blind flag waving xenophobic hypocrisy.

You want Britain for the British, your “sovereignty” back etc etc ... you seem to hate the EU and all it stands for and want out.  But you don’t mind partaking of the benefits of one of its member nations by having your little holiday home in the Sun.

Well, Spain’s just put non-residents tax up from 19% to 24%.  I can see that being pushed up further if your contention that UK is to be punished is true.

Which it’s not, that’s just another manifestation of your rank xenophobia.

Of course the people who voted to remain in the EU are to blame for any drop in GDP or the next recession because we wanted to stay in the biggest trading market where the UK sends 43% of its exports and gets 52% of its imports. But don’t worry the good old Empire will make sure that the old co...

...untry survives. All those trade deals that the Empire are queuing up to sign ......... oh only Singapore so far but the rest will follow soon! The UK has been sold down the river by a bunch of xenophobes who are scared that Johnny Foreigner will come to steal the jobs that they don’t want to do. But don’t worry all of us who voted not to lose the benefits of the EU will take the blame and you can keep your conscience clear. Ya wee scone

benefits of the EU ???????  Can you tell me what benefits the EU gave the UK????? all I can remember is them saying Cucumbers had to be straight!!!!!!

Jenni, have you seen that very funny Monty python sketch ‘what have the Romans ever done for us’ or the Patrick Stewart sketch, ‘what  has the Eu done for us’, both available on you tube?  Watch them if you can then you might realise what a very stupid question yours is. I don’t have enough time to waste detailing the benefits from the Eu over the last 4 decades, but perhaps Dario has, over to you Dario. Seat belts in cars, health and safety at work and maternity leave are3 things that immediately spring to mind. It’s questions like these that really show the ignorance of brexiteers in this matter.

Yes keep firm Boris,

Chaos at ports, food price hikes and shortages, food banks highest ever, child poverty at record high, unemployment increasing daily and set to rise by 300k, sterling dropping like a stone, financial markets in a mess, travel chaos, international health facility throughout Europe ceases, bankrupt companies higher than ever and increasing, businesses in total confusion.

I now see whilst talks are in progress he doubles patrols with armed naval ships, some friend !! maybe the message from Brussels should be goodbye and good riddance.

The straight cucumbers, along with the straight bananas was a flat-out lie. There has NEVER been a requirement for straight cucumbers (or bananas)

So. Benefits.  Leaving aside the obvious free movement one, how about unfettered access to the largest single market in the world? an ability to export 90% of its fish caught tariff free to the EU.  Or there is of course the 50 odd years of peaceful co-operation between member states, and an ability to have a say in the direction the EU was going and growing.  Cross border communications were enhanced allowing full and free intelligence (both national security and criminal) sharing and so enhanced security for all countries.  Of course there’s the ability to deport illegal arrivals back to port of first safe haven under Dublin III ...

and many many many more, far too numerous to list.  It’s difficult to remember because so many of the benefits are taken for granted - but a while ago Matthew linked a document that was published by EU and outlined changes that would occur post transition period, with or without a trade deal.  You only need see that document to realise just what it is that will be lost in less than three weeks.
