1. There is an "essential reason" for travelling if you are travelling from Ireland to Spain before 19th July 2021. You may be stopped by gardaí  and issued with a fine of up to €2000 for each person travelling.

2. From 19th July you'll need the new EU Covid Passport which should be downloaded online to your mobile phone.(providided they are available for issue).

3. Proof you are fully vaccinated (Card issued on obtaining vaccines).

4. Under 18's may travel without EU Covid Passport and not having had the vaccine.

5. All travelling will need their passports.

All of the above is susceptible to change in the next few weeks depending on the infection rate in Ireland and Spain. The infections rate of Delta Variant is the main problem and nobody can say with truth at this stage that it won't get out of control.

For anybody looking in regarding Covid and its effects in Ireland:- our pubs and restaurants are closed for internal customers. They are due to reopen next week, but already it is almost certain that won't happen.

My Opinion (and I can be wrong):- If you are travelling from Ireland to Spain in August there will be hoops for you to jump through in Ireland and Spain. What those hoops entail I cannot say.

Update if travelling from Ireland to Spain with an Irish Passport - You will need the following:-

1. Covid Passport - Hard Copy and A4 paper will do

2. Passenger Locator Form - Complete online no sooner than 48 hours before travelling to Spain - A4 paper copy required

3. Ordinary Passport

4. If you are travelling with Ryanair you will need to upload a copy of the Covid Passport and Passenger Locator Form to the Ryanair App on your mobile phone. (You can do these on Checking In or later, but do them - you know Ryanair!).

For the Return Trip to Ireland from Spain you will need:-

1a. Covid Passport - Hard Copy and A4 paper will do

2a. Passenger Locator Form - Complete online no sooner than 72 hours prior to return trip. You must print it and bring it.

3a. Ordinary Passport

4a. If you are travelling with Ryanair you will need to upload a copy of the Covid Passport and Passenger Locator Form to the Ryan App on your mobile phone.

At this moment there is no need to self isolate in Spain or in Ireland on your return. Let's hope there will be no change.

There may be Covid Spot-Checks before Outward and Homeward bound - Stay Safe! - And have an enjoyable holiday.
