There appears to be a lot of confusion with regards to when the lock down starts for the whole of Spain. The Spanish PM addressed the nation last night and the lock down was with immediate effect.

“ The Board of Ministers has approved the State of Alarm as announced yesterday. Initially for 15 days, starting at the time of publication in the State Bulletin, just before midnight 14.3.2020, with the possibility to extend.”

Newsflash Pas858, The difference between midnight of 14th March and 15th March is a fraction of a second. If you have further difficulty, please post any questions.

Thank you Matthew. If you read the original post it stated as from 8am Monday 16th March when in fact it was from last night 14 March, over 30 hours earlier not a ‘fraction of a second’ as you state.
However I understand that Admin has now corrected the Announcement!

Further to this, it is already being reported that the GC are already stopping and challenging people who are out and about believing the incorrect information, not necessarily because of this Forum, I hasten to add.

Has anyone been stopped by the GC when travelling to an airport for a flight back to the UK after the lockdown? I would assume showing boarding passes if challenged should justify the journey.

I believe so because as I understand you are allowed to travel for essential and relevant journeys which clearly this is. Obviously you will have relevant documents, boarding cards etc as proof if stopped. Remember to check with your airline to make sure flight hasn’t been cancelled because I am reading that some have. Have a safe journey.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, thus far, our flight is still a goer but I'm checking on a regular basis. Fingers crossed.

Spain is closing its borders to anyone trying to get in - from midnight 16 March tonight. Just been announced. That is air, road, rail borders.

But if anyone is leaving (to get back to Britain) they will be able to do so.

I have just flown in this afternoon (18 March) on a Ryanair flight from Birmingham to Alicante, landed at 13:00, there was no passport control!  Just walked through, no-one at immigration.
