1st question and most important, I assume you have Residencia / residence, yes? (And you are not on an NLV) assuming you have residence and are not here on an NLV, then:

Couple of ways you can do it - obviously Fibre optic and internet phone is best (very little in the way of ADSL / Ethernet - replaced by Fibre optic), but if you’re in an area that can’t get Fibre optic and where Signal reception is patchy, you can use a mobile by:

1) getting either Lobster or DigiMobil and selecting their international calls package

2) using a calling app like Toolani that gives super cheap international calls.

Obviously the Fibre Optic / Internet phone method is preferable.  Again I’d recommend DigiMob as their Fibre optic package is 30€ for 1GB/s and 1€ for a fixed line / internet phone.

I would suggest avoiding Movistar as they tend to offer set packages that sometimes force you to take things you neither need nor want (SIM cards that are NOT good value) DigiMobil allows you to tailor a package to your needs and at lower cost to Movistar.  They are carried on Movistar infrastructure though so have arguably the best coverage in Spain for both Fibre optic and mobile.
