Hi there, when we bought our villa our Abogado set up our bank account with Caixa Bank in Albox. They are increasing our quarterly fees to 35 euros from April, so considering switching to a cheaper alternative.

Does anyone have any experience of switching? Is it relatively straight forward?

We have all the usual utility direct debits to transfer but do not have a monthly salary/income paid in.

The convenience of free cash withdrawals in Arboleas would definitely be an advantage. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Zoe

cajamar bank in Arboleas will require you to pay in a regular amount every month to get free banking otherwise they will charge at least €15 every couple of months to use any cards.  the only other way is to open a savings account and buy a share in the bank which costs at least €1030+ and is very difficult to get back when you want it.

Thank you Alicia for taking the time to reply.

Unfortunately Cajamar doesn’t look like a good option for us.

We will keep looking and researching.

Thanks again.

Hi there. Without a doubt the online Wefferent account with Cajamar. Absolutely no fees, no rules about paying in a set amount each month, no waiting forever in queues. An excellent way of banking.

Thank you. This account has definitely been highly recommended and seems like the obvious choice for us.

Appointment with current bank - Caixa @ Albox, tomorrow to let them know we are leaving (and another refund issue we have with them)

Thank you very much for your advice - much appreciated 👍

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Well there was no budging on the fees with Caixa (we did ask).

We are waiting on a large refund to appear in our account (which has disappeared without a trace) before making the switch to Cajamar online account which all seems straight forward.

We plan to open the new account, update our details with the utilities and withdraw/transfer funds from Caixa. Hopefully all straight forward 🤞.
