Hi all, just asking. Having sold our property nearly 3 years ago and through circumstances and pandemic unable to come back over to purchase another, why have we not received our 3% returned to us? We used Amanda Oakley and she said she had resubmitted it and we had to provide our bank details again but still no joy. It is almost 7k so we are seriously fed up. Has anyone any knowledge of people getting there 3% back having used Amanda? We are aware of someone who received there refund but they used someone else. Here’s hoping

Amanda is highly thought of. Just ask for proof of transfer and take it up with your bank, Amanda should be able to provide this. The transfer is part of every sale, and Amanda has done hundreds of sales. It really should not be a problem. I have dealt with her on three occasions and she has always been very professional

Your post said that you had been reimbursed? I was giving you my personal experience, which was what you asked for? To tell me to butt out is very rude.... I wish you every success in your future life

Too many people on this forum reply without reading the post correctly. Case in point clearly the originator hadn, t received the sum held over to settle any possible outstanding debts. Is there an official time set for holding this sum?

In fact it is astonishing that the problem has not been blamed on Brexit/Boris Johnson yet...

Unfortunately, Brexit may play a part, albeit small.

A LOT of institutions are now quite overtly anti-English “because of Brexit”.  I quote this, because when I approached my bank manager for a hipoteca, he advised me he would do what he could, but the bank had an unspoken policy of looking very much more carefully, and being much more conservative in their approach to lending to anyone with a British passport (even if permanent resident) “because of Brexit” (his actual words were “the bank, they don’t like the English because of Brexit”)

I have also been turned down for two business subvenciones I should have got - CADE seems to believe “because of Brexit”.  It’s overtly covert if that makes sense.

You will likely get your 3% back - eventually - but it may take a lot of time, a few phone calls and at the very outside, possibly an appeal.

It’s going to take a year or two for things to settle back down.  Right now, UK is not flavour of the month; like it or not, we have to just grin and bear it until it settles down.
