Hi, hope someone can help. I have had a TIE card for a year but it runs out at the beginning of November. Does anyone know how the card is renewed for another year. My solicitor in Albox didn’t have any idea and so was no help. Do I need to make an appointment with the Foreign Office in Almeria or possibly the Consulate in the uk to see someone in person and what paperwork etc would they need to see.  If anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

If you are here on an NLV, you need to renew your Visa first.  This is done whilst resident in Spain and I believe requires much the same proof as your initial application, except your finances will need to be proved for two years not one, as this renewal is for two years.  Once your visa is renewed, you then make an appointment at the oficina de Extranjería in Almeria and go through the same process as when you applied for your TIE, except this will be a renewal.

If your solicitor is unsure, I’d encourage you to retain a gestor or abogado who is familiar with the process.  There are a few and I can recommend Mundi Abogados at Vera Playa.

Whilst I know this isn’t helpful, you really should have started this process at the beginning of September at latest as it will take a couple of months at least to get everything sorted out.

The TIE card is renewed every 10years, that date is printed on the front of the card below your date of birth.

Only every 10 years if you have permanent residency.  OP says hers was only for a year, ergo must be here on NLV and coming up for first renewal.

No - I would encourage you to contact solicitors or gestor well versed in this procedure; there may be others following who have recently renewed an NLV and can offer their experiences.  All my experience predates introduction of NLV for UK migrants so I can’t offer anything concrete, but again, I really would urge you to seek help from specialists in this area as soon as possible
