Hi, I'm having a problem entering my NIE number on an official form, I've had this problem before but can't remember the solution, I enter my number but the form will not accept it, my number begins with a Y and ends -E with the usual number between,  I'm not sure but I vaugley rember something to do with the Y. Anyway any help will be great fully received.

Don’t leave any spaces or use hyphens commas etc. Just the letters and the numbers. Hope that helps

When it gives you the choices in the drop down box are you choosing NIE?

On some sites I've had to put an additional zero in after the first letter.  I've no idea why, but it works.  May be worth a try.

Try to place a 1 instead of the Y

Mine had too many '0' in it. Simple, but even the authorities had difficulties occasionally. If you have any either at the beginning or the end, try removing them. Hope you get it solved.

I had the same problem. On my social card they added a 0 after the first letter. But on my residential card it is left off. When I fill forms in on line I leave the zero out.
