Hi,

As I mentioned in the title my husband and I are new to almaria I'm 57 and my husband is 55 we want to settle in Spain but are really unsure how we make an application we are renting in vera player and have been here for just 2  weeks I have been looking at the forum and whilst I thought we had researched what was needed it's clear we have not touched the surface ! My question is is there somewhere/someone we can contact who will set us on the right path given our specific situation?we think we are doing well by finding our way around so far but it's such a learning curve I thank you in advance for any advice

Hi

Please keep in mind that we're now approaching some key deadlines that will significantly effect your rights & options. If you wish to retain full rights of an EU citizen after 31st December 2020 then its vital that you commence the application for residency as soon as possible. You're going to need financial records (some of which may need to be translated by an official spanish translator for official evidence) to prove you can support yourselves & also evidence of property ownership/rental agreements.....and also arrangements for healthcare provision (if you're needing private healthcare to satisfy this then keep in mind it will probably need to be paid for 12 months up front as assurance). There are lots of individuals who have done this on their own & I'll bow to them & they may well jump here with dedicated advice. We ourselves have chosen to go through our Spanish solicitors (Maria & Esther @ MundiAbogados who are located near the roundabout at Las Bouganvillas). They have been amazing not just only for this but also all of our legal stuff in Spain. Yes its a paid-for service but it takes away the hassle of the hoops that you'll need to jump through to obtain residency. If you're on Facebook then I'd recommend joining the 'Brits in Spain' page which is operated by the British Consulate & has lots of tips & also recent videos about the whole process of obtaining Residencia & the TIE card. From what I can gather, the key thing is that you can evidence that you're living in Spain before 31/12/20 so please make sure you keep records of everything as that will support your application....just my thoughts but at this stage if you're in doubt but have the funds then personally I'd go down the professional route with a trusted advisor given the impending deadlines that may impact your future status.

The most important thing will be to get a Certificado de Empadronamiento; this will show you took up legal residency in Spain before 31/12/20.

Living in Vera Playa, you will obtain the Padrón from Ayuntamiento de Vera, and for this you will need an appointment.

To get an appointment for Padrón, go to https://citaprevia.vera.es

Your defaults are “Servicio Atención Ciudano” and “Prado Zamora”

Accept these defaults by clicking “Siguiente”

On the calendar, scroll months until you find dates that aren’t greyed out.  9/12 is the first showing available on mine.

Select a time from the right hand column.  Click Siguiente

Put in your in information “Nombre” = Name, “Apellido” = Surname, “Dirección de email” = email address, “Numero de teléfono” = telephone number, “Domicillo” = Address, “Ciudad” = Vera Playa, “Código Postal” = post code, and for “Nota o trámite a realizar” put in “Solicitud para certificado de empadronamiento”

Click Siguiente and finalise your appointment.

On the appointed day, go with passports, rental contract, copy of DNI of owner and copy if I think it is energy certificate.  Your estate agents will know exactly what you need for Vera Ayuntamiento as they will have copies of this information on hand.

For the actual Residencia process - definitely be guided by gestor or abogados.  Mundi really are very good and know their stuff.
