Hi just wondered if anyone could advise, I'm looking to buy a small apartment or house in Almeria, ideally want to be close to a small town or village and no more than 20 minutes by car to the coast, was looking at Turre area, just would like to know people's thoughts who may have already purchased there or anywhere nearby. We  Want something traditional and somewhere where we can dip in and out of bars and restaurants and still have a traditional Spanish village feel  to it not by a built up town, thank you so much for any advice you can give.

We purchased in Mojacar which we love, but it sounds like Bedar would be a good option for your needs. Not too far Inland from Mojácar and Turre. A few nice restaurants / bars in a traditional Spanish village. Good luck in your search.

Thank you gary, I will look at these areas, is Mojacar also worth looking at and are there nice beaches nice there, we don't mind touristy place areas but just as long as it still has a traditional feel to it.  Thanks for the info.

Try Bedar.  Fantastic village. Great community feel.  Weve had our place just 4 minute drive from Bedar ,in Serena for 17 years. 3 months visits at a time . Heaven here.  And we are fussy lol

Hi Maddie

Mojacar is definitely worth looking at. You have the best of both worlds in that there is the old village up the hill (Mojacar Pueblo) and the beach resort of Mojacar Playa. The beaches are lovely with a nice choice of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. In my opinion the best beach is Ventanicas. Nice and wide with a lovely Paseo to walk along.

We are not permanent residents so cannot comment on what it is like to live there full time. July & August gets busy. The rest of the year it is pretty laid back. All low rise buildings as not allowed to build more than 3 levels high. Not overly commercialised either. The Pueblo is a very nice traditional village with little boutique shops and nice restaurants and fantastic views of the surrounding area.

We visited Bédar last November and that is a lovely village. Smaller than Mojácar but very traditional. It obviously depends on what you want as a permanent home and we are all different. I for example might find Bédar too small / quiet for permanent living, but for others that is what they are after and it would be idyllic.

Best wishes

Gary

Hi I am selling my little cottage, Casa Gabriel, near Bedar and from your description it sounds like it meets your requirements perfectly. The cottage is on the books of Olive House Estate Agents in Bedar. Please PM me with your email address if you would like photos and full details. Best wishes, Sue
