Moving own possessions
How do people co ordinate getting possessions from UK to Spain when you can only be in either UK or Spain. We are looking to move permanently to Almeria but have some furniture and personal stuff to ship over.

If you use one of the reputable movers they will collect your items in the UK and then bring them over on a date to suit you.
We used Fred Philips Removals very efficient and highly recommended

May also be worth looking at transit time from UK to Southern Spain with your shipper. None stop dependant from where in UK you start it’s minimum 24 hours more or less and it’s unlikely that they’ll use the two drivers needed so would probably take longer. You may be able to pack in UK fly to Spain and arrive before transport - albeit tired. If there’s two, or more, of you you could also consider one in each location.

Hi,
Like the idea of the last poster.
There are a plethora of Removal Companies all advertising locally as well as ones you can access in UK. Think quotes & Insurance essential as is a dedicated Remover not an agency that subcontracts.
Our favourite is Jimbo.the Scot on www.jimbothescot
Really impressive website with details. He has a centre in Poole ( I believe ) & one thought would be to arrange delivery there and then it comes over in due course.
Best Wishes,

Super helpful member
We put the items we needed to move into a self storage place (in Manchester where we lived). We drove here to rented furnished accommodation so had got rid of much of our own furniture in the months beforehand. A few weeks after our arrival the removal company collected our stuff from Manchester (using the access codes we supplied) and delivered it to us in Roquetas de Mar. We had about 11 cubic feet of stuff in boxes inc some furniture. We would advise using a company that does part-loads with an HGV rather than a man with a van. It was not cheap but we had more confidence in the outcome - and are not planning to move long-distance again.
Thank you to all who responded. You have been very helpful
