Rental for. Week

We came for a weeks holiday in January and viewed lots of properties in different areas ..... it was a hectic week. We did find a property and this is going through. There have been delays with paperwork but our vendors agreed to us renting the property while we wait for it to complete. We did consider renting before buying but we have 3 dogs and 3 cats so didn’t really want to move them more than once. Everyone told us to rent first but it is down to circumstances.  Out of season prices are really very good. 

Generally it’s better to rent first. Because you can decide later whether it’s the right area for you if you don’t know it that well. Renting gives you more flexibility.

Caution is required as once you do buy you may later have difficulty selling. It can take a while and there is already a high proportion of properties available: it’s a buyers market.

I would definitely say rent, rent, rent, rent, rent, before you even consider buying a property in any location. You must know that the area you think is all wonderful.... may well not be that at all! We are renting so far 2 different properties in 2 areas in the last 8 months, and moving to another property in a different location later this year for 8 months..... 3 different properties and locations in 1 year.. you get a good feel for what's what. We found our first property on a mainly European ex-pat estate.... had more than it's fair share of bloody annoying barking dogs at all hours..... do you fancy that? We certainly did NOT!!!
