Hi

Just want a basic pay as you go, spanish mobile phone. Just to call receive text. Like a tesco type one for £10. Any stores or recomendations  in the Almeria Area for a good deal.

It's not quite the same here as in the UK.  You buy the mobile phone if your choice and make sure it is ' libre'  so that you can use any server of your choice.  You then buy the SIM card.  Mine is with Mas Movil which give a good deal on calls to fixed phones abroad, but there are many servers who do pay as you go.  I bought my phone from Amazon but Carrefour, Alcampo, Worten, The Phone House, Media Markt in Almería sell phones from simple straightforward basic ones from about 20 euros to all the latest models.

Thank you for your reply. I have a pay As You Go Spanish mobile number via Moviestar but I am wondering if there is a better company re coverage and customer care In Huércal-Overa - one needs a few hours and lots of patience even for a top up in this shop! I don’t want to change my number though?

DigiMob also good - carried by Movistar, but easy to top up and dedicated customer service in English

I have the basic Lobster package.  12€ per month which enables me to make unlimited calls to the UK/Ireland and within Spain.  Highly recommend.  I use the card with my iPhone 5.

Where did you buy your SIM card for your iPhone - that sounds like a great package!

Does Lobster include calls to mobiles abroad and in Spain in that 12 euros a month?

You need to look at the Lobster.es website.  Not all countries are included, but for those that are on the list it includes all calls.  I am on the basic tariff, since I do not use my phone for anything other than making phone calls, so don't need much in the way of data.  When I go abroad, I top up my extra credit so that I can receive and make calls while roaming, or I so that I can call other countries (such as France) which are not on my all-inclusive tariff.

I have the Lobster SIM cards readily available if you’re interested.
