Hi all

looking at selling up in UK and moving out to Spain (Alicante / Almeria areas) and seeking any advice re basic living costs.  I have made a little table below listing my best estimate of basic costs (assuming 2 retired people in a 3 bed villa with a small pool, probably one of those new build type).  I have excluded food and drink and the like as I'm just trying to establish costs of basic bills...  Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance, Stephen

Outgoings

Mobile Phones (x2)  €64

Medical insurance (2 x people)  €136

IBI  €45

utilities  €109

Sky/IPTV  €55

 Water €27

 home insurance €32

 car insurance (basic car) €27

 Pool maintenance  €91

Total monthly outgoings  €  586

Mobile phones try lobster 12 euro a month.

A previous post on here said health cover 90 euros a month for a couple although this would obviously depend on any health issues.

Good luck

Hi, it would all rather depend on how you wish to live, is for example the pool heated / cooled?  How much of a garden do you plan to have and how much water will you consume?  Is the villa connected to mains water or is it bought in by tanker?  Will you have AC units throughout the villa, will you be on mains electricity?  So many variables but if I were you I would at least double your estimates, if it comes in lower then great.

Good luck

The UK government website has lots of useful information about living overseas.  It is also fact based so may prove more useful than anecdotal information.

Hope this helps. K
