Hi All.

Looking for some somebody who has installed/using only solar power to power their property.and while I respect everybody's opinion .I would like to hear from people that actually use it.and the question is does it work.

My wife and I are due in Almeria in May for our third house hunting expedition and have found a place that ticks a the box's except it only has solar power and can't be connected to the grid.any thoughts please.

Regards

Bob and Kat.

I am also interested for hot water and to heat pool but not explored yet.

My mum has 1 solar panel for her hot water which works well in summer but she does have gas bottle back up for the winter period. It does not go back to the grid.

Friends of hers installed complete solar and are pleased although there was talk of government taxing them for use of solar instead of electricity. It’s not like U.k. where it goes back to a grid.

I have had solar power for over five years on a property I own in Sardinia.

The electricity produced by the solar panels is sufficient to run a four-bedroom, three bathroom house with a total of 250sq.metres and the filtering system for a 10m x 5m pool. I am currently looking for a house in Spain and I would not hesitate to buy with solar power as long as there are back up batteries (for night use or extremely cloudy days) and a minimum power of 3 kilowatts in all. A generator for emergencies would be good too.

I would get any existing solar system checked by a professional to see if everything is working efficiently.

I am in cantoria and use solar power with battery that charge during the day and then use once light has gone I do have battery back up which is set to come on once I’m drawing over 3kw so it doesn’t drain and kill the batteries I am not connected to the grid

Use gas for hot water so again not draining battery’s 3 bed 2 bath house

Change gas bottleevery 2 months @ 15 euro time  all wold ok but you do need that gennie for cloudy days more so winter months
