Hi

Probably a bit obscure but does anybody have an experience of air rifle/pistol ownership & licensing in Spain?  Also whether or not import is possible.  I enjoy a little target practice & would join a Club if nearby once my move is complete.

Would be a shame to sell as it's always at a huge loss but if it's not possible or too much hassle then it will have to be.

Grateful for any experiences/input

Thanks & regards

Ian

i believe that in Spain you have to belong to a club to get a licence to hold a gun/pistol.  you have to pass a police check to get a licence,  the guns have to be stored at the club or in a secure cupboard at the home of the owner.

importing into the country wouldn't be easy as I would think that customs will want all this to be done before you come, not easy to do. you can google for information.

in this area I only know of one club and they do clay pigeon and are closed at the moment I believe.

Thanks Alicia.

I had a feeling it might be a lot of red tape but for air rifle/pistol that's stricter than the UK especially if I have to have the added expense of secure home storage.  I think I'll just leave them with my Son in the UK & go for the odd day at a range when I visit.  Maybe in the future consider a clay pigeon club in Spain for the occasional shoot & when my Son visits. The drawback of that, is that my Son picked up his first shotgun at about 16 borrowed from a friend for a Charity shoot, & beat people who had been shooting for a couple of years.  Our air rifle/ .22 club had said he was a bit of a natural. Oh the joys of youth & the drawback of failing eyesight in later years.

Kind regards & thanks again

Ian

I bought a CO2-powered .22 BB pistol (Styr M9-A1 replica) from Amazon.es with no problems.

I believe you only need a license for rifled weapons.

IanO,  yes I remember when I was a 19 year old in the Women's Royal Navy and I picked Rifle Shooting as something to do and I scored 99 on one of my first sessions.  Unfortunately after I left to go to my station I never did it again.

Hi Ian

Just saw your post.

I have recently joined the local club to you at Almajalejo near to Huercal Overa. I took the FAC exam this year, both theory and practical, for carbine (rifle) and pistol and passed. It takes a few months for the cert to be progressed in the Guardia Civil and I thought I would like to practice with air pistol in the meantime.

The Huercal Overa club are looking to set up an air weapon club in the future, though our other local club in Vera have stated they would like to set up an air-weapon club in the next few months.

The Vera club is the larger club and I am also joining that club as it is 8 mins from my villa, and may have the air section up and running earlier.

There is a massive gun club at Gador just past Almeria which has an Air gun section, but a bit far for me to go.

They all do cley shooting
