Hi my husband and I are planning to retire to Almeria area. We haven't visited Almeria before and would like advice as to the best area to be. We won't be driving so need to be near public transport,  walking distance to amenities and beach. We would be renting budget of 700 euros. Any advice as to the location of estate agents would be helpful too. We will be visiting in June 20 can anyone recommend the best area to stay to start our search? Thank you.

I have just moved to a place inland from Mojacar. Mojacar itself is very nice. There are no high rise apartments so the frontline Buildings are not intrusive . There’s miles of sandy beach . Many beach side restaurants. I love it because it’s rustic . Lovely promenade for walking and many small shops and boutiques.

I would definitely recommend. I used estate agent called Spanish Property choice who feature in A place in the sun tv programme. They had English staff working there and could not fault them or our apartment.

Hope this helps. I love Mojacar. It is very quiet now .  Not sure if f that’s because Of current situation?

Hi

Although we now live in Mojacar when we first moved over we rented an apartment in Vera Playa near to Buganvillas . It was very convenient for everything and being Vera rather than Mojacar , the rent was very inexpensive. We rented through Spanish Property Choice who, to be honest, were not the best but we managed. I think because of Covid there will be quite a good selection of properties available at the.moment but I'd advise reserving a place as soon as you can. If you want to be near the sea and have good facilities on your doorstep then I'd suggest Mojacar or Vera Playa. Garrucha is also very nice and more Spanish. There are loads of estate agents in the area, just Google them. Blue Sky properties get good reviews for rentals.

If you are UK citizens I assume you are aware of all the changes if you arrive after December 31st?
