Guys I follow and read all your blogs and posts... now i would like honest thoughts

Having considered a property in this town...(Almanzora) what are people's general thoughts on the place?...be open please... also does this town have Broadband internet?

Being less specific...I know certain areas have issues, be it... the flies...the smells...the damp...flooding!

Any info on these and other issues...would be vastly helpful...thank you ...

Hola!  We've been renting in the hills above Almanzora for 4 months now, and still love it, it's a beautiful place. We will probably stay a while extra given the current situation. Normally there's 3 bars and a few people around town, a couple of shops inc a Coviran and an ATM, plus a pharmacy but, unless you like a lot of a walk, it's a few minutes' drive into Albox. That said, if you love the quiet life and a friendly place, look no further we definitely feel it's home. Happy travelling :) Ps.  We both work from home and got high speed internet via Albox Online - we'd definitely recommend it's 25 euros a month including free view

Thanks so much...and is the internet via broadband or dish or ?

How far out of the town r u?...is a coviran a supermarket?

The property is on the S/W of the town.... In other words from Albox... Go through Almanzora and just as you going out of the town its there

Albox is great for all the stuff you need...would you say 10 min drive?

Any negatives?...

No worries anytime!  Its via dish - installation was free if you sign up for a year but weren't sure how long we we're staying so we paid for installation.  There's a few companies I think in the Albox area but we're happy with ours - the connection's very reliable and needs to be fast as we need it for work.  There's Sky too but we don't watch a lot of telly.  We're above the town around a 10 minute walk to the main street.  Coviran is a mini market (part of a chain) and you can get pretty much everything you want at not too much more than the supermarkets in Albox.  It can get very windy the higher up you go, but its also a respite from the heat.  It can also get chilly in the winter out of the sun - it doesn't bother me but my other half has struggled without central heating so we bought plenty of heaters from the Chinese markets in Albox!  We'd be quite happy to live in the area for good - we like quiet.  Maybe rent first if you don't want to jump in with both feet?  Even though we love quiet - it was still a shock first off.  Carillo Bar usually has a good mix of ex pats and Spaniards and stuff going on to ease you in gently.  You sound like you know Albox so you know everything going on there.  Its around a 6-7 minute drive to Albox.  We've not come across any negatives really - the odd smell on the way into the village or down the Rambla.  It's a very slow pace of life so won't suit everyone, but walking the dog in the mountains around in the peace is bliss :)

This is great info thank you so much..I currently live in spain but Mallorca...20 years I know about the pace...well, seems natural to me now...but i dd struggle...so tell me is Almanzora higher up (altitude wise) than Albox or is it just your place?

Good to know about the Internet...I currently have high speed via cable. works the IPTV box too...

Not a big TV watcher myself but "the other half" is...!! all these things matter...work a lot on the internet myself so...!

I've made 3 trips over to Albox for property viewings, but missed out on Almazora, Cantoria I did...which isn't so far is it. Your help and view points have been excellent... I may have no choice but to rent...was hoping not too but with the situation as it is...me house sale end is ticking away...and cant get over to buy something...aghhhh.. There is one property on the other side of Albox we both like but the properties have some legal issues...and that's waving a (small) red flag...Not sure.

Ahh you'll be fine come the blistering summers then!!  That's the bit we haven't done yet, but with everything as it is we may well do this summer - the other half v happy at the thought, me and the big hairy lab not so much!  I think Almanzora is around 380m so no biggie but if you are on the hills around and exposed you'll feel it when its cool/windy - been a welcome relief for me already when's it hot.  We've only skipped through Cantoria so not long enough to comment.  On the other hand north of Albox towards and past Taberno we love.  I'd definitely try a recky of the whole area over a bit of time, there's plenty of properties for rent at very reasonable rates, am sure you could get one as a base for a good rental short term - the area's great for the coast too with 45 mins to beautiful quiet beaches, and the roads are pretty quiet :)
