Stuart, although Dario is a mind of information and willing gives people advice, which is great if all the info is correct, I dont know one way or the other, but there is a side to him, that is 'his way or no way' and he can get very aggressive and talk down to people should they dare to question...

... or disagree with him.  So when he 'starts' on someone I take it all with a big bag of salt. So you dont have to justify anything to me. The fact they you and I agree has got right up his nose. I expect I will be in the next line of fire. have a nice day

now as you know Jenni you and I have disagreed on some things but on this post you are 100% right,If you do not agree or kowtow to Dario then he gets insulting and agressive

Well said Jenny and you have a nice day too.

I had no idea Dario had blocked me, but I guess his only reason simply demonstrates he doesn't like any form of critique.

strange he blocked you as he and I have crossed swords many times and he still reads my posts

Ah! CJ - Never let your Panama Hat get in the way of a good story. I blocked only two people on this forum and I don't unblock them just to hear what they're saying. And never would I block hartcjhart.

We hardly agree on anything, but everybody is entitled to an opinion. (Well, nearly every one).

What will I do then, the same as I do now, live, and make the best of the country I choose to live in.

I do hope you will like living in the Highlands, Jennie.  For reasonable winter clothes, try Micolet.es as the charity shops in Almeria have little to offer of that ilk due to our weather.

In the 70s, my parents went to live about 8 miles north of Inverness and were very happy there and ran a successful boarding kennels until they retired there.  Be warned, there are few hospitals in the Highlands so if you live further north or even on the the west coast, Raigmore Hospital in Inverness is the hospital to which you will be sent normally.  My parents were lucky that they hadn't far to go when problems arose, which they did.  On the east in Grampian area Stonehouse Hospital in Aberdeen covers an extensive area.  Its something to bear in mind as you get older.

I would recommend the Perthshire area where you have more infrastructure and you wouldn't get cut off in bad weather as can often happen in the Highlands.   It's very pretty too.

I have a sister who lives just south of Edinburgh and she actually envies the fact that I can actually make an appointment to see my GP here in Sorbas!  I dont know what it is with many British doctors and some dentists, but they seem to be still very wary of returning to a normal routine.

As for Scotland becoming independent and rejoining the EU, I very much doubt if this will actually happen as it is a lot more complicated than the nationalists like to think, but Northern Ireland is another kettle of fish.

Thanks for the advice Juanida, much appreciated. Scotland is so beautiful and the lack  of people really appeal to us.

We nearly bought a property 20 mins drive from Inverness Airport, but in the middle of nowhere, ideal. Unfortunately the money for this property didn't come thru in time, there is a completely different buying system in Scotland as I am sure you know.

I dont care whether Scotland become independant, I like Nicola Sturgeon and her policies, she was great during the pandemic.

Have a nice evening

Yes Jenny, I do know about the different system in Scotland.  It's normally 'Offers from...' and offers have to be in before the closing date and noone knows who has offered what since all offers are 'closed' until midday on the set date. The highest bid usually gets the property but not always if the  the seller takes a shine to you for some reason (rare, but can happen😏), or if you are flexible on entry dates which may suit the seller more.  Some properties are 'Fixed Price' which saves a lot of time and money on surveyor's fees if you've been beaten to the post on a few  property offers.

Good luck with your search.  The Inverness area is lovely and the people too. My parents home was near the Beauly Firth and they were very happy there.  My Spanish husband loves that area too and indeed we had a Highland honeymoon 23 years ago.
