Without wishing to get sidetracked, but Brexit wasn't designed for the convenience of anyone except those wishing to keep their tax havens secret and not be forced to pay tax in the country in which the money is earned

OOhhhh I didnt realise there were tax havens in the eu

Get one thing straight Mr Hart. It was the UK that built that wall, not the EU. The UK has distanced itself from from the EU, not the other way round

Yes the UK distanced itself from the eu,BUT how could we then build a wall in the eu,the eu brought the shutters down, shutters that have always been there even before the eu

The EU will run the EU

and thats exactly why we voted for Brexit

Britain wanted to stand alone. But, it's finding itself somewhat isolated. Don't blame the EU, you asked for it and got it. So what's your problem?

I have no problem with us standing alone, and a damn good job we did when the pandemic hit,and where would the Ukraine be now if the UK was still in the club, with all their dithering about supporting them, giving putin his blood money

Keep believing that stuff CJ. I'm sure Boris Johnson would have loved you.😉

There aren’t, hence the burning desire for  Banks, Rees-Mogg et. al. to exit the EU before the legislation came in compelling disclosure of tax havens and payment of tax in the country in which taxable income was earned.

and if you think UK did a fantastic job during the pandemic 🤣🤣🤣 well, you clearly have exceptionally low standards.  UKs performance was abysmal, although your now disempowered minister for mendacity would have you believe it was “world beating” 🤣🤣🤣

yessssss … world beating.  So, how WAS that track and trace? Certainly world leading - I don’t think any other country in the world could have displayed such outstanding incompetence and outright overt corruption.

The majority of British people have a compelling need for a personal tax haven, this is why they voted for Brexit?

No, Bess, read the post that this was responding to.  I was saying (in response to you, originally) that Brexit benefitted the 1% of rich people who had tax havens around the world and so avoid paying tax.  e.g. Rees-Mogg whose Cayman-registered company earned in excess of £5.000.000 in the UK year before last, but paid ZERO tax, because it was registered in the Caymans.

The law being introduced in EU would have compelled R-M to disclose his tax registration, and pay tax in the UK on the money earned - you know, like the rest of you do

I am sure that the EU has some excellent laws which we the British are free to percieve debate, and decide to adopt.  Some are not suited to our circumstances or national preference and we are free to reject or delete them.  If the electorate disagree with the decision of our parliament on these things we are free to change the parliament QED just now.

Your right there Dario, during the pandemic  the UK behaved abysmally. They made rules they did not enforce . New Zealand was the only country that got it right.

Well you aren’t actually changing parliament, you’re changing one Tory prime minister for another and unless you are a paid up member of the Conservative party, you don’t actually have any say in that, either.

However the way it has worked could be serendipty this time, we get to see if the Chosen One is doing a good job ( Better than Boris?) and within a couple of years WE can vote them in or kick them out and become Green Orange or Red instead.  No EU citizen can vote for who gets  executive power to take  EU decisions.
