Hi,

We had our interviews in Manchester for NLV 5 weeks ago. Have been checking process of our applications daily on the Spanish website, every day it’s been “in progress” but this morning is showing “Resolved”. Can anyone tell me if this means our applications are all approved and how long will it take for us to receive our passports.

Many thanks

Aly

“Resolved” means a resolution - a decision has been reached, and your application processed.  You should receive your passports back within a couple of weeks.

I believe if the resolution is unsuccessful it would say “denied” or similar, but you should hear something within next two weeks.

If it’s successful (which is most likely outcome) don’t forget you only have 90 days to take up the visa and enter the country, then 30 days from arrival to apply for your TIEs, so I imagine your life is about to become a bit of a whirlwind …

Thanks for your reply, fingers crossed we won’t have to wait too much longer .

Hi Peter,

Most important, get someone reputable to complete the applications for you. Police check and medical certificates are valid for only 3 months and getting everything ready for the interview within the tight timescale can be a bit tricky. We used Carly Flitney based in Arboleas, she was really helpful and explained things step by step. It can be quite a stressful process but she definitely helped.

Good luck

Hi Smartcat. We too are looking at relocation, did the lady in Spain that helped you with your application of the NLV charge you, if so  how much?  And what was the cost at this end in Manchester.

Many thanks

Hi Smartcat,

Were you still living in the UK during the application process?

How long roughly did it take to gather all the information ie Police check, medical certs etc?

And last one how long has the whole process taken you so far?

Sorry for all the Questions but we are planning on making the move maybe next year!!!!

Kind Regards

Adam

Hi Carola24,

The help to complete both our forms, including the appointment here in Almeria to collect the TIE cards, cost approx 700€ in total and the NLV visas are £516 each, payable at your appointment at the consulate in UK. The police checks were £95 I think ?? And our medical certificates cost £295 each(our doctor couldn’t sign them so we had to use a private company). It’s an expensive process but we are here now and we love it. If it’s your dream it’s worth every penny. I’m writing this as the sun in rising , heaven 😬

Hi Adam,

You have to be in UK for your appointment at consulate to hand in your visa application forms and all the required documents, including your passports which means you have to remain in the UK until the visas are approved and your passports returned with the visa stamps inside. The approval process normally takes around 3-4 weeks I’ve been told but we waited almost 8 weeks, July/August is holiday season for the Spanish and anything official can be delayed until September.

The application itself is a bit tricky. You have to provide police and medical certificates which are valid for only 3 months , you have to get them apostilled and then translated and arrange your appointment at the consulate within that 3 months. My advice , as stated previously, is to pay someone reputable to help and advise. We couldn’t have done it ourselves.

Hi Smartcat,

Thanks for the reply very much appreciated.

Are you enjoying your new life in Spain and was it the right thing to do?

Kind Regards

Adam
