Hello,

I am Diane, me and my partner are moving to Albox in September this year. My partner is a retired gas engineer and I am a newly retired housing officer. (Both took early retirement, to come and have a healthier life).

We will be driving over and bringing a few personal items, but will have to buy majority of new items of furniture and beds.

We have been looking on websites, but would appreciate advice on the best places to go shopping. Also, advice on health and travel insurance.

We have had lots of help from the estate agents regarding house insurance and car insurance.

Any hints and tips would be wonderful.

Diane

Hi,

Property Insurance-Liberty Seguros

Car Insurance -'Linea Directa

Avoid Allianz like plague.

Just posted re furniture on Post from La Alfoquia.

You will find your Bank does Travel & Health Cover.

Would also recommend Karen Cacere of Collyfer . We have our Funeral Plans with her and she is a brilliant contact.

Liberty Seguros also di Health Cover, etc.

If you want specific Contact details then let me know.

I don't trust Estate Agents & who trusts Banks.

Millennium just outside albox seems to be the favourite . Just past the traffic lights that slow you down , very near the 2nd hand shop/auction house . Just gotta watch how you turn into it though , legally it's entered from same side, if your entering from albox prob best go past and spin round .

There's plenty outdoor furniture at the places opposite bowling in arbouleous , a lovely family run the diy shop called alde sur on the service road opposite , there's a great place called maderas viuduez which is 2nd junction down on a7. And of course Lopez which is the 3rd . Lots of others too many to mention without knowing what's required

Hi, there is also a good second hand store called The Attic at Cucador, not the usual rubbish you get from most of the second hand places and their stock changes weekly which shows they sell a lot. Millenium, as mentioned is supposed to be good for new items of furniture and El Curro in Albox is good for electrical goods and also has staff who speak some English.

Can't agree with BoblL re Linea Directa, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole after our dealings with them but Glen at Liberty Seguros in Albox is very good, now have both cars and house insured with them but use Ibex at suicide corner for pet insurance.

Hope this helps,

Best wishes,

Paul.

Paul is correct in that in 15years never had to claim from LD. But like the bonuses, mileage recovery, now no excess, immediate courtesy car, etc. May have to change my stance next year as have just reversed into lamp-post.

The furniture place opposite Bowling Alley too expensive for our tastes and Lopez has a problematic Returns Policy & find the staff at both stores rude & ill  trained.

Actually over  the 15yrs we now find ourselves using Andy & Cheryl of meandmrsjonesfurniture & meandmrsjonestransport.

Online catalogue may be worth taking a look at.

Spanish Insurance Companies do not, as a rule, offer 'all risks' policies. For  this you will need to look for a Company underwritten by Lloyds of London-like Abbeygate.

Bye again,
